It's time the "twins" got meaningful jobs
A news story in LBN describes Cheney's daughter's new job as a middle east diplomat in the State Department.

What value are the "cupcakes" adding to society?

9. That was thrown to the media dogs to chew on, BUT...
despite her "good intentions," she's never taught ANYTHING, other than how to take a deep bong hit, hold it in, and let it out slowly through your nose.

But my prediction was blown since he stole it again. It'll never happen as long as their idiot Dad is still in office.

27. Jenna's teaching career was nixed.
Before the election, it was announced she'd be teaching in a DC Charter school.

After the election, it was announced that she is not qualified. No education degree--which is needed for primary education.

We await news of Babs Jr's departure for Africa!

19. Their only real job will be to marry and breed
That's the only real job any daughter of extreme wealth ever has.

Anythiing else is just to kill time until that happens, and will be approached with exactly the enthusiasm it demands. None.

21. Yeah, but W screwed that up
See, to keep the "Bush Dynasty", you actually have to have Bush in the name.

I remember that Repugs kinda hate hyphenated women's last names, but in the case of a Repuglycan, they will "bend" or "amend" the rules.

So, to carry on the Dynasty (in 46 or so years), these two have the following options:

Never marry, and run for Prez (in 20+ years)

Marry someone with the last name Bush (please, don't go back to inbreeding)

Get knocked up, have the kid, don't marry the father, and raise it to be "God fearing"; may have to try this a couple of times until a Boy pops out. (still wondering about that "emergency appendectomy" in December 2000).

Forget the idea of ever birthing a President.

25. Barbara & Jenna for co-Secretary of Education
http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050215/OPINION02/50215049

No street cred

EVIDENTLY every State of the Union speech must have a jarring, incongruous moment that comes out of nowhere. Last year’s was President Bush calling for steroids testing in Major League Baseball —not a bad idea but totally out of, well, left field. This year’s came when the President announced that his wife, Laura Bush, would lead a national effort to reduce gang activity in urban America.

The First Lady smiled sweetly, acknowledged the applause of official Washington, and accepted the first great charge of her husband’s administration — stewardship of a $150 million, three-year program to assist at-risk youth between 8 and 17. If some thought that Hillary Clinton’s assignment to tackle health-care reform during President Clinton’s first term was a stretch, the prospect of Laura Bush, the soft-spoken librarian from Crawford, Texas, lecturing Crips and Bloods about the evils of gangs is a Saturday Night Live skit waiting to happen.

Without a doubt, the First Lady radiates empathy and concern for the disadvantaged. Among all of her husband’s advisers, she is the one whom we most easily can imagine relating to society’s outcasts in a non-condescending way. But as nice a woman as she must be, Mrs. Bush isn’t our first choice for heading up a federal anti-gang initiative. The government’s gang czar should be someone with street credibility and a whole lot of law enforcement experience. For all of her good qualities, Mrs. Bush has neither.

Street gangs and the pathologies that create them are a complex phenomenon in urban and suburban America. Anyone who takes them on needs to be more than a good role model. Niceness is no substitute for a familiarity with the conditions that drive young people into violent gangs. An initiative without a clear vision of how to deal with the problem is doomed to operate on only a symbolic level. The President obviously loves his wife, but he didn’t do her any favors by putting her in charge of such an important effort. What’s next — naming Barbara and Jenna Bush to run the Department of Education?
