Poll question: Do you hate Republicans, and everything they stand for? |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 01:31 AM by Lone_Wolf_Moderate
New DNC Chairman Dean said this, and if he meant it, I think as a blanket statement it seems pretty harsh, and may hurt our ability to reach out to moderates, even though I understand Dean's sentiment (even though I don't agree with it). I'm convinced that half the Republican leadership flaunts their hatred of Democrats openly. Anyway, your thoughts?

4. Don't know. I read about it in Newsweek. |
|
Considering the source, especially since it was George Will, the context of the quote is suspect.

8. Well the repubs that hate repubs and everything they stand for |
|
are the ones we even stand a chance with. I am sure there are many of them that aren't loving their party right now...and the fact that he will get ASKED about the phrase opens up for a question about what they stand for...doesn't it?

the neocons and their Evangelical goons that support the destruction of our society over some text from the Bible that they claim is prophesy but is really a warning to those that lived at that time and is meaningless to us now.

12. GO DEAN! The end of the REPUKE LITE BS is near. |
|
The days of pandering to the Repukes are numbered. It has LOST us two elections.
We do not need Repukes to win and we should STOP watering down our message to appease them.

13. There are a few decent moderate Repugs. |
|
but they are dupes and cowards...They can't possibly respect what Dubya/Rove are doing...They have to know our democratic values are at stake..If Dean said this. I agree with it..Mabye better way to say it, so as half way intelligent repugs would not be turned off w/o first listening..But, mostly I agree.. The way to make head way with the gullible undecided Americans is to go negative as Newt did and point out our differences and educate them as to how Dubya is destroying our republic and its promise.

16. The Repuke party is out of control: Culture of HATE |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 02:20 AM by ultraist
They are the party of HATE. ANTIgays, ANTIchoice, ANTIequal rights, ANTIminorities...ANTIfreedom of speech..ANTIcivil liberties...
And LOOK at the mass corruption in their party and all of their foot soldiers like the Swiftboat liars!
They are obsessed with destroying any Dem they can. Just the other day they put out a smear manual about Reid.
The Repukes are NOT our friends. Even McCain campaigned for Bush.

Moderate is an abstract term in this country right now.If your lively hood has been destroyed by this neocon sci fi plot, you tend to be less moderate and more touched by the evil.I am a pretty boring conservative person to some standards, since the dumbing down corporate greeding of America has affected my professions and skills i am now one very un moderate guy.

destroying America. The label Republicans is no longer viable to name the Fascists that are in power now. There are Republicans but they are no longer in power. GWB is NOT a Republican or a Conservative. He is a Fascist. The Dem Party is just afraid to call the Bush Junta Fascists. The Fascists in power along with the fundies are my enemies and I will fight them in whatever way is needed, short of violence, at least so far.

18. I absolutely loathe the neo-cons in power |
|
but there are many moderate, progressive Republicans around the country. There's at least one right here on DU. Last year, I ran across a website called RepublicansAgainstBush. Upon investigation, I found that there were many moderate Repubs who couldn't stand Bush and who supported Kerry very strongly. They sounded like Democrats. I was very surprised and pleased. These moderates are not going away. They continue to be dismayed with the current neo-cons and will work to bring the country back to her senses. We Dems would do well to bring the moderate Republicans along with us as we fight for the changes that the country needs to make. So no, I don't hate all Republicans and all that they stand for, because a lot of what they stand for, we do also.

22. Dean said he HATES repugs and all they stand for? |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 05:52 AM by UdoKier
That sounds like a flat-out lie to me.
I do hate EVERYTHING the GOP stands for. I like a few of the things they CLAIM to stand for, like fiscal discipline, but they have never ONCE practiced any of what they claim to stand for in my lifetime.
Is there any point to this thread other than to smear the new DNC chair?
At this point, Dean taking over the DNC is the ONLY thing keeping me from ripping up my democrat card and going to register Green.

I stopped believing that the Dems stand for what I stand for in 2000 when none but a few stood up to the Bush Junta Coup.
