Is there anywhere in the US where there are NOT a lot of stupid people? |
|
Between the Bushies and the "common people" I really have to wonder what is wrong with our country.
Today we went to a new restaurant in town. They had 100% buffalo burgers. The waitress said they were good. She had tried them. So I order them because it's been years since I've had a hamburger due to mad cow. When I ordered it, I mentioned I had buffalo before and it was good. The waitress pointed out it wasn't 100% buffalo, but had some beef in it. I pointed out it said 100% and should not have beef. She had to go back to the chef to find out.
My dad had an operation. He was in rehab for 3 weeks and got out Saturday. The rehab called in a bunch of subscriptions. We went to get them. One on the list was missing. I called his doctor - took 6 people to tell me the doctor had not perscribed it. So I called rehab. On the 5th person I just blew up. No one passes on what the phone call is about or the name even. I had to repeat everything over and over. No one knows how to forward the phone to someone of authority.
And the list goes on. Where did all these stupid people come from? Is it Florida?

2. I lived in Boston for a very long time |
|
and, in case you didn't know, the greater Boston area has the largest number of colleges and universities of any major metropolitan area.
There were still plenty of stupid people there.
Some of them had even gone to Harvard.
Shoot, I was known to increase their number from time to time.

I once told a Harvard grad I was planning a move to New Mexico.
He asked me what kind of visa I needed.
Then he compounded the felony by suggesting an adult education Spanish course.

I run into a lot more here in NYC than I ever did back in central Illinois, but I think that's just because there are that many more people out here.
I'm constantly amazed at people who don't know how to make change, read signs, follow directions, and so on.
I also don't understand these people who are sitting in a thick traffic jam at rush hour in NYC and think that by blowing their horns that suddenly the traffic is going to clear so they can get home. As if all of the cars are just sitting there for fun or something.
(Sorry for the small rant. In a very foul mood today.)

12. The dumbing down of America............................. |
|
these folks wouldn't want to be grouped in that "Liberal Intellectual" category, now would they? Like you said, just good "common people". Common. Nothing separates one of them from another. They're common. Generic.
These are the types Republicans LOVE! Not really, they just love to use them. They don't think, they "believe". They're easily led, like sheep to the slaughter.
I share your pain. I live in New York which is about as "Blue" as a state can be. And we still have an overwhelming number of "common folk". After work, it's off to the bar, the television or the X-Box. Anything to escape they're "common" existence. That's all they'll ever be, common.

17. Nothing wrong with commonness |
|
It's the stupidity.
We live fairly common here. Just a few basics is all we need and an occasional trip to the bar, a little TV, playstation 2 rather than Xbox.
We like our life as common as it is, but please, we're not stupid and neither is anyone else who chooses a common simple life.

18. To some degree, it's Florida... |
|
As a former Florida resident, I can say that there are some REALLY dumb people in Miami. But there were plenty in Southern California, too. And up here in SF, a significant number are just plain bonkers. There are dumb people EVERYWHERE, even France or Japan.
As for the girl with the buffalo meat - I doubt she's all that dumb - she's a waitress & not expected to do calculus. She probably wasn't familiar with the makeup of the meat because most people don't really care and don't ask. I don't doubt she has tons of other shit to keep up with besides that!
And before you start calling the kettle black, you might notice that in your own post, you misidentified "prescription" as "subscription", then misspelled it as "perscription"
I know what you mean about being transferred and having to tell the same story 5 times, but it was EXACTLY the same in Japan when I lived there. Just be glad you got to speak to HUMANS in the US on the phone, and not a robot, or "Tiffany" in New Delhi.
We're all dumbfucks sometimes. I can't count the number of times I've put the cereal in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard...
