The Return to Civility...what a crock !
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 05:03 PM by SoCalDem
This must be the latest "codeword".. I have heard it numerous times in recent days. Of course when politicians and "news" people say "civility" they are just asking democrats to shut up and "play nice"..

Every time I hear it uttered on TV or radio, the mental image I have is this:

A rape victim being told by her rapist, that he will remove the gag if she promises to not scream or that if she cooperates, he won't hurt her...any grown person knows that he does plan to hurt her, and the removal of the gag is not to keep her from screaming...it's just that he has other uses for that cavity.

Sorry to be so crude, but after years of seeing the republican bullies in action when they DIDN'T have a majority, it just does not ring true that now when they HAVE a majority, and at least 2 years of smooth sailing, why on earth should they even care about "civility"?

The sad truth is this..... They will continue to snipe, undermine, lie,and destroy, and democrats will be the ones expected to "hold still and enjoy it"..

This is one trap we must avoid. Republicans will not respect us, and would never vote for us anyway, and our elected officials need to be showing their constituents that when they told them they would "fight for them", they meant it.

Civility is a luxury we cannot afford right now....or ever.

2. Yeah, the whole "country should come together and heal" thing
didn't work out, so now they're trying out the word "civility" to see if people will buy that instead. It all amounts to the same thing - BUY OUR BULLSHIT AND SHUT UP!

*Gives big fat finger to talk of 'civility'"

13. How can you come together and heal when the Bully-Boys want
to destroy a generation with their wars, the economy, social security, the environment, and now, the civil service?

4. Civility went out the window with endless attacks on the Clintons

It can never return to the debate. The Republicans are the ones responsible for removing civility from the debate. Now they must stew in it.

11. and yet. NO ONE in the "media" seems to remember all that "water"
they carried.. I remember anchors going on tv speculating on the date Clinton would resign.. They ALL jumped on that bandwagon, yet cannot seem to even "follow" the republican scandals which hurt us ALL..

9. Busheviks view civility and compromise as Liberal Weakness
Sound familiar? It is yet another similarity between the followers of Bush and the followers of other Totalitarians, including Saddam.
