that proclaims "I'M A LIBERAL AND I'M PROUD" and I'd wear that tee-shirt to really crowded places like ballparks, malls, etc.

I'm sick and tired of liberal being a "dirty 4-letter" word. It's not. It's the politics that I have believed in for almost 30 years (I was a young kid when I got caught up in liberal politics.)

I'm tired of the media/political bashing of liberal and it's time we grow a spine and fight back.

I'M LIBERAL AND I'M PROUD!!!

1. Someone should make body decals, LIBERAL, I could wear it
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 02:46 PM by patrice
on my forehead, or along your upper arm, or something like that.

It would be great to have it fully visible at all times, so when you're just grocery shopping, or getting gas, or working or anything, you make your point anyway, without talking about it, unless it's appropriate.

3. good company...
I am a liberal. We live in a liberal democracy.

That’s what we created in this country. That’s in our Constitution. ... I think we should be very clear on this. You know, this country was founded on the principals of the Enlightenment. It was the idea that people could talk, reason, have dialogue, discuss the issues. It wasn’t founded on the idea that someone would get stuck by a divine inspiration and know everything right from wrong. I mean, people who founded this country had religion, they had strong beliefs, but they believed in reason, in dialogue, in civil discourse. We can’t lose that in this country. We’ve got to get it back.
Wes Clark - September 5, 2003
--------------------------

What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then … we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

- John F. Kennedy, September 14, 1960

4. I would wear a vee-necked BLACK t-shirt w/white or blue lettering.
One can stand up for one's beliefs and not look like a golfball.

Many many more people would proclaim their advocacy if only the shirts were a bit more flattering.

8. I've been working on many t-shirt ideas.
I think I'll make one that says: "At least I'm human" or "proud to be human."

11. If you aren't a liberal, you're anti-American.
That means you are not patriotic. You do not support the Constitution of the United States. If you do not understand what a liberal is, what a liberal stands for, you will be led around by the nose by a group of people trying to subvert the power structure our Constitution supports. We have been working since the Magna Carta to divest any ruler of a supposed "divine right", and prevent the powerful few any ability to work against the common good.
