1. The U.S. government has broken its promises and treaties...
...with native Americans for over two centuries. In fact, the United States may have been the first modern colonial nation which committed almost total and deliberate genocide against a nation of peoples which occupied and lived in a land centuries before the European settlers ever came to its shores.

I remember Marlon Brando in the 1970s I believe, refused to accept an Oscar because of his protest stand against the United States government's treatment of native Americans in the Dakotas. Why on earth should the working class of this country trust their government to keep the promises they've made or will make in the future concerning issues like privatization of social security with a track record like that?

2. For the record

the US government has broken or violated every single one of the 370-or-so legally binding treaties it has entered into with the various native nations of this Turtle Island continent, where the USA government is INCORPORATED.

Off in search of a link to document this fact.

Hmmm - best I can do for now:

I believe this sad record of total broken trust with the first peoples of this place has established a massive karmic knot that lies deep below the national psyche, entangled in the roots of all that exists today.

If you build on a shitty foundation of lies and broken agreements, what you build will not stand for long -- unless profound corrections are made.
