RW Radio and your health
I have started to notice something....I am able to spot the angry RW radio listener when I meet them. They are agitated, suspicious and angry. These are not healthy people. They are maxed on stress.

I have also noticed that regular RW hate writers to the Letters to the Editor in my town don't seem to live long. They eventually show up on the obituary page and a bunch of hate letters as their legacy in the community.

Hate radio spews hate to rile up the troops to do their bidding. What these idiots do not realize is that they are being used in the worst way. If stress kills, or at least triggers disease, these people are paying a price for their hate-fests.

Not that I really care because they made the choice to live like that. At any rate, it is a finite strategy as they will eventually kill off their shock troops! Hmmmm.........

1. Hate and fear are really tough on all body systems
but most particularly on cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems.

Hate and fear raise cortisol levels in the blood, which in turn raises blood sugar levels. Increased cortisol also is associated with gastric ulcers. It's really not good for you over a long period of time.

I know what you mean about meeting those people in daily life. They suck all the joy out of any situation, and most of the oxygen out of a room.

Sadly, hate and fear are addictive emotions. Either a massive trauma will have to shake them out of this pattern of emotional behavior, or they will die young.

2. Fear is a response to stimuli
Hate is an emotional choice based on fear.

There are two ways to look at anything.

Way One: The Flat Affect Life is best. Stay calm, cool, and collected. This is great if you live in a safe world. Not all folks do.

Way Two: The No Holds Barred approach. In any and all situations, act as if you are in immediate peril.

There is a middle ground. You can be angry and still be healthy. In fact, I would say if you aren't angry right now, you aren't very intellectually healthy. If you aren't just a tad fearful right now, you may not be physically or politically healthy. But I digress.

When you're talking about career haters, and RW bigots, you're talking about a completely different animal. I couldn't listen to any of that drivel and hate spewed like cold spit. Air America WCKY, when I can get it, makes me feel GOOD....

3. Agitate and incite
instead of elevate and insight:)

Hate radio is Limbaugh & Co yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre..

Liberal/progressive radio would be the ones holding out a guiding hand for the people so they do not fall and get trampled:)

I was listening to Michael Savage tonight.

I just finished telling my husband that this right-wingnut is just horrible!!! He's so caustic and enraged all of the time. His comments are just vicious.

Right-wing talk radio is verbal battery acid.

I used to listen all of the time--to keep tabs on these suckers. I seriously feel that listening to this garbage is detrimental to your health. It's so mean spirited and hateful. When they're not making fun of people, they're just so pumped up on vitriol--it's just mind blowing.

Right wingers motivate their base by inciting. Lefties illuminate.

This is part of the reason why right-wing radio is so popular. It's titillating, sensational and so over-the top. Progressives speaking the truth, isn't as sexy to those who want their political news served up with hate on adrenaline. We don't use Rush's name calling tactics and ridiculous song parodies. We don't foam at the mouth like Medved, Savage and Hannity. We speak the truth and we get to the heart of issues.

Right-wing radio is a mangled pack of rabid dogs. Progressive radio is the good-natured, loyal lab at your feet by the fireplace. We may not be as exciting or scintillating as the frothing dogs. However, we'll outlast these beasts who are only about destruction, degradation and dehumanizing behavior.

5. Yeah,but the problem is they also give us stress
Since right wing anger is so pervasive in the media (and sometimes in real life) they also manage to infect us with their stress and anger too.
