Why the attack on bloggers? Are bloggers that different from talk radio?
corporate media is acting like bloggers are the end of the world because bloggers:
1. Have a bias
2. Mix fact with opinion.

This is different from talk radio?

Why isn't/wasn't talk radio the end of the world for these "journalists"?

Because some bloogers are liberal?

I'm clueless....as usual...but I don't see the difference.

7. Yep, that's it
Corporations can control talk radio. They can't control bloggers. Plus bloggers are exposing the Lame Stream Media for being........lame.

3. There was original research involved in the Jeff Gannon story
by the bloggers.

Talk radio is about reporting what was already reported.

Blogs usually are about reporting what was already reported, too, but the Jeff Gannon research is an exception.

4. Yeah but you know what? Fuck the attacks.
I'll tell you why they're there: to try to discourage people doing the kind of investigative journalism that people notice isn't done anymore because they see it on blogs and not on the mainstream media. Fuck it, as I see it, we shouldn't have to beg people to believe something well-documented and established is true just because a blog found it first.

5. well, no

The money-dependent media is upset because bloggers are speeding up the news cycles further. The amount of Web information bloggers dig up and the speed at which they do it is a threat to their work habits and cautiousness. If you're a journalist, turn in a piece, and the editor calls you up and says "Blogger X is on to the next step already, you missed something pretty obvious to follow up there" your sense of being able to do a worthwhile job takes a nasty hit.

So a lot of the talk is worry about the way bloggers are becoming de facto news elites in limited subjects. The way to fight that is to dispute the bloggers' accuracy, but all that has to happen is that bloggers score some big story properly-- and the Gannon story has a chance of being exactly that. (Actually, I think there was a lot of help from the Daschle campaign behind the scenes guiding them, but that's not quite the point.)

8. They didn't complain when the conservative bloggers
were doing what they did. Now that the liberal bloggers are up to speed, they can't handle it.

9. Why? Because Conservative Talk Radio it total BULLSH*T!
End of Story.

The last place I worked, from mid 1998 to January 2001, the owner LOVED to play RW Hate Radio loud enough for everyone to hear, ALL-DAY-LONG.

These Jackasses spent ALL Day, repeating the SAME Lies about Clinton, Over, and Over, and Over for 3 (most likely 8) Years. And it's total Bullsh*t 95% of the time.

Then they go and call it "News Radio."

With Blogs, they can't control the the Truth from getting out.:grr:
