Marlin Fitzwater: Gannon questions no worse than Helen Thomas or Rather |
|
Marlin Fitzwater: former press secretary to Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush snip> "If you look at the question Gannon asked, it obviously reflected his conservative views," Fitzwater said. "But it's no different from the ones Helen Thomas asked of Reagan, or Dan Rather asked in his more famous comments about Richard Nixon.
"This guy got caught and he's a little weirder than most — but he's no weirder than Evelyn Y. Davis," said Fitzwater, referring to the shareholder advocate who covers the White House for her corporate newsletter, "Highlights and Lowlights."

I hadn't heard of Evelyn Davis, but I learned she voted for Clinton and has a rep for being eccentric.

3. How absurd. Marlin Fitzwater is proving what I've always suspected: |

he's nothing but another pretty face.

4. Helen Thomas HAS her views but did NOT editorialize |
|
with her questions. It's pretty clear this is the tac they are taking:
They editorialize with their questions. THEY only like liberal gays.
Next they will allege that Dan Rather ran a secret male prostitution ring.

15. And Helen Thomas is a journalist of experience. |
|
The intellectually challenged Marlin Fitzwater is entirely too dense to grasp (or disingenuous) the fact that Helen Thomas has held media jobs for literally decades, long before many of today's reporters were a gleam in their fathers' eyes. To write her off as an operative or crank is sexist, ageist and dishonest. Don't let Fitzwater get away with this.
That smug bald dude is an operative, not a journalist, and ignoring that fact won't take way the scandal.

5. Fitzwater on record saying NO DIFFERENCE between GAY PROSTITUTE and 50 yr. |
|
career journalists.
I hope the gay community is gathering all these fine Republican claims of NO DIFFERENCE for when Republicans start in on civil unions and gay marriage again.
Maybe we can get prostitution LEGALIZED while we're at it. Republicans say it's no different than having an affair.

16. I hope the credible jouralism professionals are gathering |
|
all of this and that it makes them angry enough to expose the propaganda network. Unfortunately, any credible journalism professional probably also needs to keep his/her paycheck, so I don't see this happening.

|
that was in operation in Reagan/Bush's time.... He's been called out to do "damage control."
Means they are really scared.

Helen Thomas never asked the kind of obviously "loaded" questions as Bulldog, at least I don't remember any. I notice that there are no examples cited in the article.
What bullshit! How dare they disrespect that great lady?

10. Isn't he missing the point |
|
deliberately I suspect. Helen and Dan were both bonafide journalists. I am certain they had to go through all the investigation required to get anywhere near the president and the White House. This is a fitzwarter strawman. Gannonguckert was let in without investigation, called himself a journalist, did not go through any investigation, is a sore on the ass of the Secret Service, the FBI and even the presidrent, could not pass muster to cover congress
I do think this is concern and fear, maybe even panic, showing itself plus is another attempt to smear good people, and that is becoming the way one expects them to operate. Even though they control the entire government they simply cannot resist showing their acid, dragging out their hate and filth, constantly, every day. They hate and destroy even when not necessary, or warranted.

11. Some cspan caller the other day was whining about a reporter |
|
by the name of Sara (don't remember her last name). She was a very old woman, about 90, and he whined about her asking Clinton "Why are the republicans always picking on you?"
Well I remember when she asked him that, there is no way they can compare that question to what Gannon asked. And if I remember correctly, Clinton was still answering the previous question and Sara interrupted Clinton to make sure she asked her question. It's not like he sought her out. Her questions were probably softball but they were never against republicans in a partisan way like Gannon's.

12. How could they possibly compare this phony to Thomas and Rather?? |
|
I know it's a strange connection, but this reminded me of one of the worst music education "lesson plans" I've ever seen: Have the kids make noises like pencil tapping or crumpling paper or whatever, then draw squiggles to represent the sounds and make a form out of them. Then listen to Copland's Rodeo. Now compare and contrast the noise composition to Copland's composition. "Uh, he used violins and stuff, while we made armpit noises." "Like, he wrote it with music notation, whereas we made lame scribbles." "His composition was recorded and is famous, but ours got the teacher down the hall to come in and tell us to quiet down."
It's like that. How can they compare this fake to actual journalists who've had decades-long careers, writing actual columns and giving real broadcast reports, researching real facts and asking real questions??
Crazy.

What conservative views? The guy was advertising as a gay escort, but he wrote anti-gay articles. How can anyone say that he was sincere about the views he expressed?
