Check out these numbers, especially those booshes!
Just as we suspected, George W. Bush is a half-wit. On 8/2/04, the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pa. released the results of a four-month study into the intelligence quotient (IQ) of President George W. Bush. The IQ is used to measure a person’s capacity for learning. Since 1973, the Institute has been rating the mental capacities of presidents and here are the results.

FDR 147;
Harry Truman 132;
Dwight Eisenhower 122;
John F. Kennedy 174;
Lyndon Johnson 126;
Richard Nixon 155;
Gerald Ford 121;
Jimmy Carter 175;
Ronald Reagan 105;
George H.W. Bush 98;
Bill Clinton 182 and
George W. Bush 91.

Over fifty years the average IQ was 115. George W. Bush is dumb. Incidentally, the average American Caucasian’s IQ is 118.

8. Thanks for debunking. There is good information & bad information.
And shithead/freepers/sociopath inspired assholes will try and spread their hate. We have to be ready for it.

3. While an Urban Myth
this list may be, I don't expect The Shrub's real IQ to be much higher. It probably hovers around 100 which puts him squarely with the proud 51 percenters (his base). In another word, average.

5. Well that was really helpful,
unlike the others who politely pointed out my error.

6. Well, I think that was a reference to...
... the comment at the end about the average IQ of "Caucasians" being 118. It's actually been added later to the debunked message, and isn't any more supported by the evidence than the claims of presidential IQs.

7. Exactly. Even the IQ tests themselves are Eurocentric. So to repeat
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 06:10 PM by applegrove
such drivel is highly offensive. IQ test measure some intelligences and not others. Verbal fluency is not measured. Many things are not touched on. So even though I may tend to agree with the ranking of Carter, Kennedy, Clinton as the brightest lights (as it was seemingly meant to do - my gosh I haven't been spoonfed like that since I was two)... that last sentence just made me want to throw a tomato.

10. Your first response was highly offensive too.
Perhaps civility should be included as an indicator of intelligence, as well. It takes a certain amount of smarts to realize that you net more flies with honey than vinegar.

13. Knee jerk - reaction but I didn't start with the hate. Watch the hate
you post. I have no doubt this was a little bit of "propaganda" was purposely slipped into your life. It was in fact "honey" then "vinegar" in one post ... to a Liberal at least. So we figured out that the original disseminator of this hateful stuff is a southern freeper.

As long as you and I don't end up hating each other but learn to direct our anger at the person responsible.. then we are okay:

THANK YOU KARL ROVE FOR MOTIVATING YOUR BASE TO DISSEMINATE HONEY & VINEGAR POSTS with the intention of creating more than one kind of hate & division - I understand fully that the way you act and try to 'get to us' with your grab for power is a metaphor for what you are 'inadequate & incapable of' in, in your own private life - I believe I called it correctly in my first response - when I used the term "fucking" - but unfortunately I directed my anger to the wrong person.

11. Bush's IQ was something like 120
if the story that came out in 2000 is true, that he scored 1200+ on his SAT. The SAT (in those days) was meant to correlate with the old Stanford-Binet IQ Test that the military used for many years: Drop the last digit on the SAT to obtain your IQ.

One caveat -- the SAT is less a test of aptitude or intelligence than it is a test of social class. If someone grows up in a household where books are lying about and ideas are discussed, he or she will undoubtedly do much better on the SAT than someone of equal native intelligence who grew up in a household with none of these advantages.

Another caveat -- Bush took the SAT when he was 18 or so; decades of hard drinking appears to have taken a real toll on his cognitive ability. See the book Bush on the Couch.

12. I bet that is just as true as this bit
There is no way in hell Bush's IQ is anywhere near 120.

And, as for the SAT:

Maybe he scored over 1200 on it, but lets consider: He also got accepted into Harvard's MBA program with a C average.

Its all about connections.

I would be willing to be that his SAT score is BS.

14. The propaganda has always been
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 07:11 PM by megatherium
that Bush is articulate and well-informed in private, talking with people he trusts about subjects he's interested in: sports, politics and business. But he's supposed to be verbally clumsy in public when he has to watch what he says. A variation on this line is that Bush plays dumb in public so that his enemies will underestimate him.

But I think you're right: the fact that they have to shop stories like this around says that there's a problem here -- Bush isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Supposedly, W wasn't the first choice of the party to run in 2000 -- his brother Jeb was, but while Jeb had trouble winning re-election in Florida, Bush won re-election on cruise control in Texas. The propaganda was that they asked Bush if he would be willing to run, for the sake of his party; he is supposed to hesitated, knowing from his father's career how rough national politics can be, but after prayer, he agreed to run. Yeah, right.

On edit: added last paragraph.

15. Omigosh. The Pretzeldent really isn't any smarter than me?
Heaven help us.

I don't believe in IQ tests anyway. I figured Bush's was slightly above average or the universities would have given Geo. HW his money back and tossed W out.
