I DON'T think Vetwife was a freeper.
At least as far as I can tell. That being said, she did seem to be extremely jingoistic, and had a strange habit of distorting what others had said about specific soldiers as being against ALL soldiers. And the stuff she posted about "hippies" over at her right-wing hangouts was disgusting, bigoted, and I believe, DISHONEST.

But being a peacenik-slandering jingo doesn't necessarily make you a freeper. A lot of people are saying we have to reach out to this type. I don't know how I'm supposed to, when nationalism trumps truth and facts with these folks every time.

The last couple days have been really ugly here with all this. Her melodromatic swansong is the only thing that makes me suspect she may have had some freep in her - maybe she intended to leave behind a rancorous shitstorm ...

Anyway, Vetwife, if you're out there, good luck helping out the vets - that's worthwhile work. But I sure as hell hope you learn to open your mind that there are other ways of thinking, and that being open to them does NOT make people anti-American or anti-veteran.

1. She isn't a freeper
She does help out vets. I wonder if she still posts on SmirkingChimp

8. I believe her on the Freeper thing...
That postings under that name there pre-date her having a computer.

But it cannot be doubted that she posted some really stinky things on another board she admits to being a moderator of.

I started out yesterday AM defending her, and I really can no longer do so.

10. That says a lot.
Thanks Ben, for your archive work. It's been about a year since I've kicked a (paltry) donation your way. Hope I can afford to again soon...

19. Apology Accepted...
I'm just kidding.

Things got hot yesterday between us, and I was rude. My apologies to you and thanks for your activism.

20. After listening to her on the Guy James show, I agree
she was not the vetwife who is on FR.

She still moderated two conservative forums, one of which has an expressed purpose of disrupting DU. She also participated in other conservative forums.

Does that make her a Freeper in the larger sense? I guess that's for each of us to decide.

2. She just forgot how to spell DEM Vet names: Kerry, Clark, Cleland...
Looked like a set up to me, very strange. Happy trails and adios.

4. She claimed on Guy James' show that it wasn't her.
That she didn't even have a 'net connection back in '99 when the FR account was opened. I would give her the benefit of the doubt on that.

5. she certainly needs a thicker skin to be here
I'm a GI brat and Air Force veteran and I can handle it - what she needs to understand is that we are DEMOCRATS and as such we do NOT GOOSE-STEP like republicans do.

7. I could care less about vetwife
This is a diversionary tactic. (Good for her in her support of vets. We support them too and I'm not about to play politics on this one as my cousin just got through two tours without physical damage although he lost friends.) Pay attention to what is important and don't let the disruptors distract you into protracted stupidity in engaging in long and useless posts. Pay attention to the lies, not the fluff thrown in your eyes.

9. Perhaps, but it's the weekend.
If we're going to be distracted, this is the time, rather than during the midweek news cycle.

Besides, it's no worse than 24/7 Gannon.

13. Gannon Fodder for the dems
Major distractor. Let it die unless we can determine he was unstrumental in outing Plame. Who his source was is important. It's a crime. ( His other activities are irrelevant)

11. With her disdain of "hippies" against the war
I doubt her honesty. She appears to need her ego fed by a large splash at her leaving. This has been given to her. So now she'll go away?

16. Anyone who blathers on about *hippies* 30 odd years later
Is a dead giveaway *Big F* type (freeper) in my book.

I don't believe her about the freerepublic postings.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck etc...it's probably a duck

JM two cents on this issue since most of the other threads seem to be locked (and apparently I missed all the excitement)

17. If she is a Republican, she is HARMING vets, not helping them
regardless of what pious, rah-rah, emotional messages about vets she may post anywhere.

The Republican party hates veterans. Plain and simple, that's the truth. Ample proof of this can be found in the actions of George W. Bush, which are currently screwing veterans, and also in the SMEAR CAMPAIGNS the Republican party has REPEATEDLY run denigrating the service of various veterans: John McCain, Max Cleland, John F. Kerry.

22. On that we totally agree.
All elected National GOP are on a mission to destroy the VA and to kill as many American soldiers as possible to force adoption of the Draft they will then use to remove malcontents from the body politic.

18. I agree with you
I think she posts for adulation, as if her husband's tragic disabled vet status confers some invincibility on her viewpoints.

She couldn't get her ass kissed here, so she went elsewhere. Simple as that.
