Faults in Presidents Secret Service detail wanted
...

Let's Shut Them Down
These websites are an invitation to terrorists

...

So what did he do with all that sensitive information? He posted it on the popular website he runs, which typically gets 50,000 visitors in a day. Young featured dozens of maps and pictures, as well as observations about ways terrorists might attack the convention. Just trying to help, Young says.

...
Recently I surfed the Web and checked out Young's site. Among other items, I found detailed maps showing how to reach a secret government bunker that's reportedly one of Vice President Dick Cheney's emergency hideouts. There were also photo of the front entrance. Young isn't the only one using cyberspace in a grossly irresponsible way. Another website gave me personal information about government officials and police officers, including their home addresses.

To understand what nuts and zealots can do with this sort of information, recall what happened in the early 1990s when three abortion doctors were killed after pro-life extremists created "wanted" posters displaying the physicians' names and photographs. A few years later, a website showed pictures of other abortion doctors, and listed the murdered ones with their names crossed out. Eventually the site's Web server shut it down.

A good read. Has anyone ever seen this Young's website?

1. I still say better to have too much information freedom than not enough.
If there was a legitimate way for the US government to crack down on this stuff, you know they would go overboard. DU and other sites opposed to the Bush Regime would be shut down as well.

Besides, the public should be aware as to how many "emergency hideouts" Dick Cheney has. This is our country and its' our tax dollars that are being used to keep that criminal thug and his cronies in business.

2. I agree. The longer
this goes on, the more info about this and that
and X and Y comes out and I am shocked and awed
by what this government has done and continues to do.

Talk about a rogue running loose and wild and
not being accountable.

And yes, I do wonder about them controlling
the internet(s). Ashcroft did say that he thought
the internet(s) should be used for only business.

After thinking it over, and not believing or
trusting just about everyone, (especially politicians)
I now wonder if Young's website is a plant
in order to facilitate taking over the net in
a year or 3?

(sigh) Rough day on DU. I hope everyone
takes a deep breath, gets a good night's sleep
and temporarily moves their perspective
1 to 30 degrees and see how things look.

G'night

3. the answer to the problem is contained within the article itself.
he drew attention to his websight and the proper authorities came and talked to him. the gas company also took an appropriate response.

hell, he could have a mimeograph machine and do the same thing--only maybe more localized, or a fax machine.

we need a free flow of information. the whole world needs and uses the internet. we do have freedom of speech.

i don't support this guy's type of activities but they will almost always be found out.
