29. Maybe, but...
...she IS entitled to her views. And I am a little worried that the backlash against her is more harmful than anything she posted. Specifically, I would not want DU to have a culture that causes some people to be chased out and others to censor themselves out of fear of being chased out.

Here is what I posted last night: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=3186991&mesg_id=3187241

Possibly, she misspoke but doesn't "always" mean, like, "every time?" Does this mean she didn't vote for Kerry?

11. I hate to say this, but I didn't vote "straight ticket" until recently
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 09:34 AM by Mr_Spock
It almost sounded like she was trying to exagerate her Republican votes by saying she never voted straight Democratic ticket. Heck, I used to pick and choose who I voted for until the Repukes went completely insane under the neocons.

Now the idea that we don't worship her enough and using the excuse that Dems suppress her is completely egocentric and assinine. Play both sides, be loved by neither in the end. Well, except that the other side doesn't care if you're Satan so long as they have you on their side.

39. Me too. There USED to be a FEW Republicans worth voting for
I didn't follow vetwife much. I probably only read one or two of her posts before yesterday. I know several long time DUers are very angry at her and I can clearly see she MIGHT have been a troll. Her comments regarding DU are WAY off the mark IMO. I feel like I lean a little conservative on several issues myself but I have never felt persecuted because I lean conservative on them.

I have to admit I never voted for a Republican presidential candidate, but I did like Reagan, initially. He fooled me for a while. I have however, voted for local Republican candidates in the past. This country really DID used to present candidates that were worth voting for on BOTH sides of the aisle. I don't know what happened. The sickness has become pervasive on one side of the aisle and I see it creeping into the other side too.

I voted for a Democrat this year that I am starting to doubt in a big way. His predecessor got elected as a Dem and then changed his mind halfway through his term and declared to everyone he was a THUG. That felt like TOTAL betrayal. Especially since he REALLY meant what he said and followed the party hardliners like a lost puppy for the remainder of his term. I will say though, I know of a few Democrats I will NEVER vote for either. One is from my own state and I am fully aware of what his "record" is so I feel pretty confident I make the right choice when I say he will never get my vote, for any reason.

Well now you know enough about my voting record to condemn me if that is what DU is all about. Honestly, I think vetwife was VERY wrong in her characterization. I guess I'll find out though.

13. How high was her post counts before she got tombstoned?
She was definitely a mole. I still don't understand how they can manage to demonize lefties who respect the vets enough to want them out of a war that proved to have no valid cause for action. Vetwife must be an example of a conservative trying to cause an hysterical distraction so that people don't have the time to reflect that the conservatives were wrong to send those poor souls to an early grave. Meanwhile, while they have the gullible masses directing their anger at us, they, who supported this war, are making a quiet exit, stage right.

22. HUH! I am registered as Independent, too, and have almost always voted R
...Until the first election after the ILLEGAL INVASION OF 2003, WHICH HAS KILLED THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS TO NO PURPOSE (not to mention the Iraqis it has killed--to no purpose!) I voted for JOHN F. KERRY, and I will vote for the democrat in the next election.

Hey "Vet Wife": the party that left ME was your precious republican party! True story! Your republican party committed an UNFORGIVABLE and DEADLY sin. It foisted on the American people the most corrupt and evil man who has ever held the Presidency.

For that, "Vet Wife", your republican party can never, ever, ever be forgiven. The republican party must be destroyed (politically, that is), and the ground must be salted under it. I WILL VOTE STRAIGHT DEMOCRAT FROM NOW ON.

Enjoy your brainwashing, echo-chamber, so-called "conservative" forums; please quit trying to brainwash those of us who have found the truth.

PS If you're so invested in veterans, why do you stand by and let your party trash veteran after veteran: John McCain, Max Cleland, John Kerry--all in defense of a wet-brained alcoholic who disgraced the armed services of the United States by failing to do his duty, and getting away with it?

32. You make GREAT points
I know several people who say they are, in their hearts, moderate Republicans. But they vote Democratic because their party has shifted so far to the right. Even William G. Milliken, the former Republican governor of Michigan, has come out against Bush.

http://www.record-eagle.com/2004/oct/18mil2.htm

Sadly, there is little room in the GOP these days for reasonable guys like Milliken.

6. Case Closed - A Traitor To The Cause
My take is that we Liberals are much too accommodating to the right.

Our belief in tolerance makes us targets for the likes of VetWife.

She has obviously confused criticism of the President's War with criticism of Veterans in general.

That being said, there are specific examples of bad apples in all walks of life, including veterans and presidents.

Yeah, we got our panties in a bunch all right, and over what?
Just the systematic theft of our democracy by a group of single party rule thugs
who were willing to lie, cheat, and disenfranchise Dem voters in at least two battleground states. And not just once, but in 3 election cycles now.

We are a bunch of silly old Dems.
/sarcasm

If anyone wants to follow her nose high into the swamp because of our treatment of her during her hallucinatory rant on our supposed mistreatment of vets, feel free. As far as I am concerned, this is a great example of a Zell Miller Democrat doing what comes naturally.

From a freeper post linked above:

You know I don't know what you are trying to say but I will tell you this, Jesus was also called a Nut. I'll bet anybody within the Nazi death camps were probably called nuts too before they reached their final destination. Germany had the "report your neighbor" program in effect too. Maybe that is why so many people have been thrown to the wolves. I only know what I read and all I read is not JBS. Maybe you should take a look at all the websites out there that know the score. I am not force feeding you like the propaganda machine is doing. You don't have to believe. Its a matter of putting all the pieces of the puzzle together and forming your own opinion. Personally, I believe the intent of the UN is exactly what they have blatantly said - Gobal Governance and the removal of all guns.

Notice the Jesus talk and the use of "feeding you like the propaganda machine."

IMO, that is the SAME vetwife. She loves that word, "machine" and uses a lot of God talk.
