8. Those numbers can't be right.
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 06:45 PM by Pirate Smile
edit - I was thinking City, not County. I know the numbers would be larger but I saw some other counties that had Bush at 80% - such as Cheyenne.

CNN's election results or my computer were having "technical difficulties" so I never saw Sedgwick or Wichita Counties election results when I went to look.

10. No, the funny thing is that the OP probably really was trying to talk ..
..about the city...to make some link to the murders.

11. Yes, but diamond's been posting random serial killer threads for a while
I assumed diamond was trying to make some vague point about the serial killer in the CITY of Wichita.

special news release from Christ Lutheran Church, Wichita, KS 2/26/2005

My name is Michael Clark. I am the pastor here at Christ Lutheran Church. I want to say that on my behalf and the behalf of the leaders of this congregation we will cooperate completely in the ongoing investigation of the matter regarding Dennis Rader. We first became aware of this investigation on Friday, February 25, 2005.

Dennis is a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He has held leadership positions here at Christ Lutheran over the course of approximately 30 years as a member.

We are all concerned for Dennis Rader and his family. We lift up our prayers in support of all of them. The members of Christ Lutheran Church are in a state of shock and bewilderment about the turn of events that have unfolded this week.

We lift up our prayers, support and compassion for the victims and family members involved with the BTK murders. We ask for care and compassion of the Wichita community as this congregation deals with this tragic and difficult situation.

Michael G. Clark, Pastor

20. Right. When i first googled Rader and Wichita this site came up
with a mention of his leadership position (congregation "President" or something). Then they pulled the page down but the google link still referred to the script. Now...the whole site is all scrubbed up good.

18. The last time that Kansas went for a Democratic candidate was...
Lyndon Johnson, and they have voted Republican ever since.

Now, if any Democrats would like to examine another theory as to why rural America has turned into this alleged "Jesusland," consider something. Look at all of those red States, and then consider how many are agriculture States. Family farms have almost disappeared from the American landscape, and those once thriving small towns are in a state of decay. Most people have had to accept whatever low paying job was available in order to survive. The Republicans have always fought for the farmer's subsidies, but that was only a temporary fix. Now, the Republicans have been selling an illusion to these people that they want to bring back the small town way of life and the way things used to be during better times (prior to the late 1970s). The Republicans are preying on these people with what they remember from the past, but they cannot deliver it to them and they are blaming the Democrats for taking it away from them.
