U.S., Mexico worst in child poverty survey
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-child02.html

GENEVA -- Nordic countries have the lowest levels of child poverty in the developed world, due in large part to their generous public spending on benefits for families, according to a report released Tuesday by the U.N. Children's Fund.

On the other end of the spectrum, the United States and Mexico had the worst rates of child poverty in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development -- a group of the wealthiest countries. snip

The report by UNICEF's Innocenti Research Center in Florence, Italy, based its findings on the number of children growing up in households with an income less than half the national median.

Rated the best were Denmark, at 2.4 percent; Finland, at 2.8 percent; Norway, at 3.4 percent, and Sweden, at 4.2 percent.

At the bottom end of the table were Mexico, at 27.7 percent, and the United States, at 21.9 percent.

2. It's all those atheistic values the Europeans have!
Once they get religion those Nordic countries will have plenty of poor children to give Christian charity to.

3. When u consider the "poverty" standards...
without considering the culture....the USA should be much lower than Mexico...but that is not how it is done. What is an extreme poverty in the USA...would not be considered to be "in" poverty in Mexico..where actually all children do have medical coverage, etc. But the living conditions that would be considered poverty in the USA, are not considered so by those living in Mexico...for example hot and cold running water is a consideration when determining poverty...but would be considered normal to not have hot and cold water in most Mexican homes....and not considered to even be associated with poverty in any way...it is normal.
