I was flipping channels this evening, and came across Joe Scarborough's show just in time to see that at the bottom of the screen, was a reference to Senator Byrd as "Senator KKK."
We all know that Byrd used to be a racist, and as an African-American, I find that reprehensible. But Sen. Byrd is a perfect example of how someone's thinking can evolve, and people can eventually come over to the right side of an issue.
But for him to call Byrd "Senator KKK" is ridiculous. And he also said Byrd is known as "the conscience of the Senate" and then he basically goes on to say "A KKK member as the conscience of the Senate?"
He was deplorable. He also had Ann Coulter as a guest. As soon as I saw that biotch's face, I turned the channel quick, so I wouldn't throw anything at my tv!

I'm no journalist.
What he did many years ago WAS reprehensible.
But, he sure has helped with many progressive causes since then.
And, he sure make many good points in his book, "Losing America."
I thought the Rethuglicans believed that we shouldn't hold their pasts against them.
Oh. He's a Democrat. What he did has to follow him around the rest of his life.
Rethuglican jerks.
I, my friend, also turn the channel very very quickly when she comes on.

Scarborough is just as bad the others. Tonight I wanted to just scream at the tv. And he went on about how none of the other networks were talking about it but him. :eyes: What a jackass full of himself. You know good and well it was all over Faux, CNN, etc. Rachel was brave for being on there. The woman in the middle made me sick too and so did Ann Coulter. Ugh. I wish there was some way we could get rid of what's going on in our media today. And then he had a segment on the "Liberal Media" but I turned the channel and watched "The Pirates of the Carribean" instead (love Johnny Depp).

5. The most repulsive thing |
|
is that what Jim Gibbons (Congressman from Nevada) said is infinitely worse than what Byrd said. Incidentally, Byrd said nothing that was out of line and yet, Faux News and MSGOP are all over that story.
Anyone heard word one about Gibbons outside of DU, Atrios, Kos, etc???

And since Bush said the other day that any-faith based organization that helps drunks should have a sign that says "all drunks allowed" I say we point him towards such a place!
Sounds real good to me!

these people were Christians and practiced Christ's preachings. Didn't he teach forgiveness for someone's past? Or do I have another version of the Bible?

1st You are really twisting and dishonestly spinning the Byrd story at every turn...then you bring on coulter to boot. I'm even surprised when I see something that egregious on Fox. Then you cut off Waldman at every turn so he can't bring sanity to this discsussion. Also, Byrd made a great speech today. Coulter was pricelessly psychotic tonight with her invective and generalizations. BTW, yes It's all over the news...even liberal radio.
2nd I can't believe how partisanly biased and dishonest you were on the Byrd segment. I'm still amazed. That's gotta rank near the top. I thought I was watching Hannity or O'Reilly. Rarely, Joe, have I seen you twist facts of all kinds and disregard facts from your guests the way you did tonight. Seriously, that was really bad. Fox should be calling you soon to join their team to take Greta's spot. Poor Waldman got tag-team trampled by you that witch Coulter. I know you're partisan but THAT was ridiculous GOP talking points. I've heard it all day.
3rd My God! Byrd's story has been all over the TV and radio today. But as soon as you don't see what you want where you want, you scream bias. Sonthe networks didn't cover it. So what?? they got a half hour to cover everything. Just turn on the 24 hour news channels on TV and Radio and it's everywhere. Case in point: You and the rest of the TV conservative megaphones on PM TV when America is home watching.
4th I think you read the NY Times editorials more than anyone else in America just so you can say what THE ENTIRE MEDIA is saying! BTW, Ari's point is half true: media loves conflict not presidents and lean left on social issues BUT they lean right on fiscal issues! Test it!!! Look up archives under Clinton! Jeez! Gimme the 9pm spot so I can comment on what you, Fox, Hugh, Rush et al on the Radio, every conservative editorial and columnist (that cable TV amplifies), what the networks didn't cover and even what the Ny Times and Wash. Post didn't cover and scream right wing bias. Hell, I'll need 2 hours and run into your show. (and get better ratings!)
