Just saw the movie "Deliverance." I know what Gannon's purpose is. |
|
It's so he and Rove can re-enact their favorite scene:
Gannon: Squeal like a piggy!
Rove: Wheeee!

4. Not as creepy as Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original 1970's version). |
|
I actually recommend that movie. It's not like your typical slasher movie like Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street as I had been led to believe. It's more like the Blair Witch Project.
There's something about "the inbred" that is as fascinating as a car wreck! :)

5. The original TCM is a masterpiece |
|
I love true-blue horror flicks - even the original "Halloween" and "Elm," but the sequels are just absurd. Have you seen "The Grudge," yet? It's a keeper. This is way OT and I'll move along so the thread doesn't get locked.
:hi: Ruby and welcome to DU!

7. I really liked "The Grudge" and "The Ring." |
|
They were scary as hell. I read Roger Ebert's review of them, and for some reason he hated them.
I look forward to more Japanese horror movie imports.

8. Texas Chainsaw Massacre |
|
is the scariest movie ever made, IMO. I have to watch it about once a year and then I spend the next week or so all freaked out and jumpy. That movie made me petrified of chainsaws! I was at a Halloween haunted house once and I laughed through the whole thing. At the end there was a person with a chainsaw and I almost wet my pants and cried!
Ok, so I'm weird.

9. The feeling of dread that pervades that whole movie is something to |
|
behold. The movie is actually really artistic, intelligent, and well made. It has gotten the reputation of being the granddaddy of all slasher movies, but that doesn't do it justice since the Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't your typical mindless slasher gore-fest.
If you have friends who haven't seen this movie, recommend it to them!

6. I spent some time in Georgia many years ago |

and actually intertubed down that river (where they started anyway). The Chattahoochee. And having spent 10 months in the Appalachians (5 in Georgia and 5 in Tennessee), I learned to appreciate Faulkner and can tell you that James Dickie knew of which he wrote.
