Bush will get the credit for Lebanon
Get used to it. This will not just be the right wing spin. It will be the MSM and Main Street America. No matter what the true causes for Lebanon to free itself from Syrian rule. Bush will get all the credit and his Iraq Democracy Domino theory will become conventional wisdom. And there's not a damn thing we can do about it.

3. Lebanon is not
a done deal by any means. There are reasons for the Syrian presence and without it we shall see what they are.

4. Um how do we know its going to be 'credit'
Before the troops were there an intractable civil war raged.

I'm wondering how Smirky is going to help 'free' Lebanon?

Will he do it the same way he 'did' IraqNam?

5. Oh yeah, because we threw our weight around,
all those ME countries are going to fall into line because they are afraid of us. Yeah right. Uh huh.

6. Yup. He'll get credit for Israel/Palestine too if things go well.
Never mind that Arafat's death had a lot to do with it.

People like simple explanations.

7. This is like Nixon getting credit for turning Egypt in '72. Who cares?
Actually, I'm very happy for Lebanon, great country, visited there for a while in '73 and it was wonderful...but...who really cares in this country. This has the same broad appeal that "ice dancing" does to sports people. He can get credit for that and even the Ukraine. America is looking at a period of inward analysis and isolationism after this idiot(*). We're so screwed, we have to turn inward and get our act together.

In 6-12 months, * will be so reviled here, he won't be able to travel except to military bases, and that may be difficult.

8. it's best not to dwell on it
Bush was the WORST PRESIDENT EVER, total fuckup, economy tanked, worst terrorist attack ever, to which he responded by reading the Goat Story, lied in our faces to get us into a war that he didn't even plan (except the PR part), and he won the fucking election.

Yeah, he'll get credit for Lebanon (whatever the outcome). Let him have it, we shouldn't dwell on it.

9. Main Street America believes what the right wing MSM tells it to believe.
And Lebanon is still a hot potato that B*shco had best be very careful of handling.

11. I know - I keep hearing this garbage.
Then, I pipe up and tell the truth and, well, given that my ex-husband is Arabic, most people then look at me and ask me why the media is saying one thing, but the people over there are saying another. They know I know more about that part of the world than they do and they, fortunately, tend to believe what I say over what the media says.
I just roll my eyes and say, "It's the stupid media, dears. They have no clue about the Middle East, its culture or its people."
