Whoo boy! Won two big battles today! Whooo-hooo!
The first (and biggest) was against US Airways. They had under-calculated my long-term-disability pay over the last 36 months or so. I asked my chief pilot for a review several months ago. I found out of the decision in my favor only by noticing a very large deposit to my credit union checking account this morning (over $33,000). Ching-ching! Now my monthly LTD check will be considerably more too. Ching-ching-ching!

Battle number two was against our Greenville, SC, "decorator" over returned furniture. She insisted on "store credit." I insisted on AMEX credit. I had even gone so far as lining up an attorney earlier today. She, however, did the right thing by crediting my AMEX account before any legal action became necessary. We part company on good terms. Capt. and Dr. DemoTex will take over the decorating of the downtown Greenville (SC) condo. We are sorry we did not do it before and save tens of thousands of dollars.

ZB: I just ordered shower curtains and bath stuff for the guest bath from Pottery Barn. Cost < $200. The decorator wanted over $3000 to do that bath! 'Nuff said! Night.

1. Congrats Mac!
If I saw a 33k deposit into my bank account I'd probably die of a heart attack. =)

7. Yep. Guess I'll join the 40-meter Texas net.
The uber-GOPers! Not! We need 40-m SSB and 20-m SSB liberal nets. Know what I mean, Vern?"

9. What is "See-Kew"?
The day I turn on my 2M rig and hear somebody going "Breaker-Breaker" on the repeater...

Shit, I'll bet all those shiny new "Radio First Responders" with the ink still wet on their pulled-it-out-of-a-box-of-cracker-jacks Extra licenses are just waiting for the ARRL to deliver their "Archie" comic-book operating guide so they'll know the "Proper ARRL Way" to get on the channels...Uh, I mean air...

In a way, I'm GLAD they did away with the code test. Means I don't HAVE to talk to morans if i get on the air.

6. $33,000??!!!!
Hell, man -- that's a little more than I've made over the past two years. In fact, the biggest check I've gotten in my life (from my dad's estate settlement 15 years ago) was $24,000.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

Now that you've got beaucoup loot, blow a bit of it on coming to FUNDAY June 18 and I'll buy the beer. You fly cheap, right?

8. Well, that is pre-tax. And it is back pay over 36 months.
Still, it is a great windfall. My discovery will help many other US Airways pilots on LTD. We were flat-out defrauded of our just LTD payments. DemoTex busted US Airways chops. It is a scandal almost worthy of 60-Minutes. No, completely worthy!
