http://www.wvgazette.com/section/News/Today/2005030720Gov. Joe Manchin; West Virginia’s new Catholic bishop, the Rev. Michael Bransfield; and several legislators spoke Monday to about 500 abortion opponents who rallied at the state Capitol.
“You have tremendous support in this Legislature, and I want you to know, you have tremendous support in this governor,” Manchin said.
With a majority of lawmakers and Manchin on their side, anti-abortion activists are confident lawmakers will pass two of their bills this year, including a bill that would make it harder for young women to get an abortion without telling their parents.
The other legislation — the so-called “Laci Peterson” bill — would make it a separate crime to harm an unborn fetus. That bill sailed through the Senate earlier this session, and is almost certain to be passed by the House of Delegates. Manchin has said he will sign it.
this is what happens when you elect anti-choice Democrats--they start chipping away about the rights of women to chose.
