we all know the bush family is about oil control, but...
with the price of gas going to be so outrageous this summer, what are the chances of somebody inventing a car that relies on solar power instead of gas.

1. What are the chances of somebody inventing such a car and living to tell
about it?

4. The auto industry has known about electric cars for 25 years.
As long as there is a buck to be made with the system they have, they will not put out the money to change over to full blown manufacture of the electric car. They are slowly introducing them at very high prices. Already got a deal in place with battery manufacturers....until a deal can be made with solar industry, don't look for solar cars until oil is no longer viable.

6. I don't think the oil magnates are against alternative energy sources...
... what I think they're about is, that they want to be sure that when one of those alternative energy sources starts to really take off, THEY (the oil magnates) have a lock on the entire manufacture, sales, profits, of said alternative energy source.

I think people have already invented cars, etc., that run on something other than fossil fuels. I believe the oil magnates' usual policy is to buy up the rights to these; they'll start making them when they've squeezed the last possible profits out of their oil empire.

7. There is no chance that will happen.
Solar can not generate the power to run the vehicles we have reliably enough.
