Church bulletin: 'Preaching from the Bible is now 'hate speech' "
These church bulletin inserts are available from the "Traditional Values Coalition" (Sheldon). They offer several 'helpful' inserts that churches may slip in their weekly bulletins. One chides Democrats and the "Christian Left" for being "sock puppets" for atheist George Soros:

http://www.traditionalvalues.org/inserts/ReligiousLeftSockPuppets.pdf

Back to our feature presentation, this bulletin:

http://www.traditionalvalues.org/inserts/0105PhiladelphiaFive.pdf

bemoans the fact that Christians in Philadelphia are being persecuted (re: "Repent America" members arrested whilst protesting at a gay event), and that "apparently preaching from the Bible is now considered hate speech and is illegal in a public forum."

WHAT kind of hateful "church" would print out and distribute these inserts???

1. No, taking the message of the bible...
And perverting it for your enrichment and to demonize people is hate speech. Louie Shelton is one of hate speech's most adroit practitioners.

3. HAHA!!! Some of those quotes are Hate Speech
despite what they are cloaked in.

In their description of the event: "Homosexual attorneys from the US Civil Rights Division..." LOL! Gotta LOVE IT! Attorneys take down the Haters!

4. Why are they bitching? They got their boy back in office.
They should talk to him instead. Unless they don't think it'll be effective...?

Oh, that's "if the DEVIL doesn't like it..." Heh. Oops. I really didn't mean to imply anything.

6. I am so sick of these bullies pretending to be the victim
they bash away and spew vitriol and hatred wherever they go, and if anyone has the nerve to criticize them, they claim that they are the ones being persecuted. What bullshit. I hope God has something very special picked out for their afterlife accomodations.

7. It's the interpretation, Blanche. . the interpretation.
I have always wondered why a preacher had to read a bible verse and then find a spin in order to turn it into some political rant.

9. Check out the Philly police report...
The evangelicals (now commonly referred to as the "Philadelphia 11") had, according to police, acted in a disorderly manner at this gay pride event, blocked a public street, and disobeyed police orders. Each of these protesters was removed from the scene (some in handcuffs) and consequently charged with the following misdemeanors: criminal conspiracy and disorderly conduct, failure to disperse under official order, obstructing the highway. Some were further charged with felonies.

Heck, Philadelphia got off easy that time. In 1844 the city was a flashpoint in "The Bible Wars."

The wars started when Catholics complained about their children having to read the King James Bible IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. (Sound familiar?)

The local Bishop requested that Catholic children be allowed to read the Douay Bible. The Philadelphia school board then passed a measure excusing Catholic students from the Bible readings.

All Hell broke loose. (No pun intended.) Protestants accused the Bishop of TRYING TO BAN THE BIBLE FROM SCHOOL. (Gee, that sounds sort of familiar, too...)

A three-day riot left 13 people dead, many injured, and the homes and churches of Catholics burned to the ground. (A google will give you a lot more info.)

Anyone who thinks that sort of shit couldn't happen again is absolutely deluded.

Usual disclaimer: Atheist. I don't have a god in this fight.

11. "Some were further charged with felonies"
:bounce:

If they keep pushing their hate, it will end up in more violence. Recently, there was a Hate crime in my area where a Gay college student was brutally beaten; he had broken bones.

There is only so much people will take of being bullied, harrassed, and preyed upon violently before there is an UPRISING.

12. They yell "Gay are sinners who will burn in hell" at a Gay pride event
Engage in disorderly conduct, but THEY are the victims? Apparently, the law said otherwise. Hate speech and disorderly conduct is not allowed.

Amazing, isn't it?
