SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Controversy is growing over some video segments recently produced by the Schwarzenegger administration that some lawmakers are calling "fake news."

"I wouldn't characterize them as mock news stories. Those are video news releases. It's the same as paper press release; only, it's done for television specifically," said Labor Secretary Rick Rice.

Some Democrats say the videos are propaganda, specifically designed to look like news reports, when they are not.

2. Well, why not?
In fact, I predict this will be standard operating procedure. The bush regime got in trouble for doing this covertly. But now that the populace has been exposed to it a few times, it will eventually become normal and acceptable as a "news release". Americans won' know what's hit them.

In slimy manipulation techniques, the GOP is pretty skilled.

5. The fact is that the science of mind control now practiced by
the Republicans has reached an alltime new high level of effectiveness.
The American people are totally unaware that their brains are being manipulated with great precision by (1) the media and (2) avaricious preachers all over the country. The people are like "sitting ducks".
Many have a natural immunity to the mind control. But, enough of them don't to allow the purveyors to get control of enough to decide elections. (with a little help from the vote counting machines)

6. Right
Now, how will progressives respond to these not-so-subtle attacks? I think part of our problem is doing business as usual while they are reinventing dirty politics.

10. I agree. Ironically, the values held by progressives might
cause them to spend their energy on activities other than politics while the conservative right wingers are dedicated to using politics as their means to their ends. They think about politics full time and exert all of the energies to making it work for them.

If I'm correct on this, then the first step for the progressives would be to realize that life as they've known it is about to end unless the Conservatives are brought under control. The second step would be to create a strategy to do that. Third, organize the necessary machinery to carry this out and finally, execute the strategy. In effect, the Progressives will have to divert their energies from what they are now doing and redirect them toward the mechanisms of politics with the same level of zeal as the Conservatives, but with more Natural logic. (I mean by that, logic based on objective processes rather than fabricated values.)

9. the more cynical young and other Americans who take the time to read
(local, major national, and international newspapers, internet, etc) will learn to disregard all this crap. Unfortunately, the time-crunched or less educated working poor/middle class and much older cohorts who have trusted tv "news" all their lives may be bamboozled by this for decades. Look at the success of Faux "news" after all.

As Malloy would say..............

7. There is a natural reality. And sooner or later, it's pure power
will make itself known. From our perspective, it won't be pretty.
As far as I know, humans are the only living things that are arrogant and stupid enough to try to live by a set of values that are imaginary. This is a cardinal mistake that will have fatal consequences. There are certain limits to survival parameters.

11. Video "news" releases really aren't new
They're just electronic versions of press releases, which have been around ever since getting your version of a story into the news was worth the effort.

The problem is with lazy or corrupt media outlets running these stories without identifying their origins instead of doing their own reporting.

12. Why do their own
when someone has done it for them, it means they don't have to do 90% of the work, the repugs know it.

Wouldn't you like to have a 10 minutes job instead of a 60 minute job when you're being paid of Salary anyway?

(Too many do the minumum work in the industry and overinflate some things for the sake of slothfulness or external pessure.)
