Satellite radio - which brings me Air America - and TIVO. Entertainment is an important part of my budget.
But I do respect your right to choose not to spend your money that way.

18. You're missing the most Dem show on TV! |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 11:38 PM by Mugsy
I've watched the show since day one, and always hoped more Dems were doing the same. And with this highly publicized episode, they may finally have alerted its key demographic... us. :)
Two great lines in this episode, Spader's throw-away line about censorship:
"Some networks are even censoring their scripted dramas."
...a not-so subtle jab at ABC and their own show. I just love those "under the radar" jokes.
The other line... upon winning the case of their 17 year old Conservative client:
"I thank you. And your country thanks you."
...Spader looks at his associate: "My country thanks me." :)
What gets me is that that's how they really do talk. It's so absurd, yet I can't put my finger on exactly WHY it is so absurd. Something between, "Who chose you to speak on behalf of the entire country?" and "You don't speak for me, and this is my country too", but neither seems to really nail it. It reminds me of when Republicans proposed a "National apology for slavery". Something not quite right, but I can't put my finger on it.
What is the best way to point out what is so "weird" about the kids' comment?

8. When Spader was on "The Practice" |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 10:18 PM by Merlot
his character was so slimey and strange he had me laughing out loud. It was great. Now on Boston Legal, it's watered down. They're trying to make him human, when he's ment to be dispicable. If you saw "Secretary" you know where they got this character. I was never a Spader fan until this character came along.
As for the faux references, does faux really need any more free advertising?

15. I used to like it, now I can barely take it. |
|
I was big fan of The Practice and I really liked Boston Legal when it started, but nowadays it hurts to watch. I think this will be the last episode I watch. (Carnivale blows it out of the water anyways). Some of it is great (the normal parts), but I really effing hate it when my mindless entertainment gets politicized (one way or another). And these days that's all Boston Legal is. It's so damn preachy it makes me wanna scream.

21. They made him a Right-wing bufoon. How can you not love... |

...any show that gives all the intelligent lines to the more "liberal" characters and gives Shatner lines like (tonight) when Denny Crane pumps his fist and says:
"We live in Red State America. Just one Supreme Court Justice away from banning the Bill of Rights!"

.. adjust for time ones accordingly.
It was great IMO, FAUX News was smacked down on this one.
'Course if you chose to tune into CBS you got to see the heartwarming Mort Kondracke story about Millie. I feel bad for her plight and all, but that f@*ker Mort makes me want to :puke:

when, in reality, ABC was the one that ended up being censored.
