HELP - need numbers on bankruptcy abuse for a LTTE
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 07:11 PM by Emboldened Chimp
I'm writing a ltte re: the bankruptcy bill and was wondering what sources I can use to cite the percentage of filings that are actual abuses. I've heard anywhere between 3-5%. Anyone have a source for the numbers, if true? Thanks.

1. You need to change the title of your post
To something like "HELP - need numbers on bankruptcy abuse for a LTTE." As it is, the people you need to reach may not open your post.

Just a suggestion. Good luck!

3. GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
I hate when I can't find a reference to something I JUST heard on the radio a couple of days ago.

It was either Thursday or Friday and the guest was citing some VERY official studies that showed decisively that cases of actual fraud ran at about 4.3%.

The 15% number you hear is a combination of abuse and honest filing mistakes.

I just spent ten minutes looking, and unfortunately I have to go.

If you aren't under serious time constraints, I can try to remember and get back to you later.

4. I can't help you with hard numbrs but
can give you a refernce. Last week NPR did a piece on this. I only heard half of it, but the part I heard was strongly against the bill. So you can try http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4527849

Good luck! I just preached a sermon yesterday about fascism in America and used the bankruptcy bill as an illutration of the government and corporations merging.
