Poll question: Will Gannongate fade away?
While the House Judiciary Committee voted against investigating Jeff Gannon, wasn't a surprise, the question remains will Gannongate fade away?

I truly hope not...

7. It's still lingering right now...
but it appears that it could easily just fade away from here, unless some new breakthrough/revelation were to occur...

8. It's like the Hydra. Everytime you think it's dead something new
pops up and there it is again. I think it will eventually become part of our culture. I can easily see in the future someone tossing a softball question and someone else accusing them of "pulling a Gannon".

9. this was over about 2 weeks ago.
we couldn't even keep up the momentum on the stolen election, the fake war, the ruined economy.....so on and so on, but some weird admin plant at a news conference should bring the fury of the american people?!?! .

maybe in a perfect world, surely not this one. you'd have better luck getting a congressional investigation into why the latin kid left american idol

12. One thing is for sure, the republicans are hoping it will fade away.
But an investigation is needed to find out why this guy was admitted as a reporter for two years in the White House.

14. Gannon may fade, but GannonGATE doesn't have to
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 02:26 PM by rocknation
Indeed, it could become the key to be our salvation.

Gannongate would have been bad enough had it been a isolated incident. But on top of the fake PR news stories, the scripted press conferences, the bulge in the president's suit during the debates, Dave Letterman and the Yawning Kid, the Plame leak, Rathergate, Armstrong Williams getting paid, and Armstrong Williams stating that "there are others," Gannon is the tip of an iceburg. As a result, the MSM will have to tread a bit more carefully now, since they will now have to appear not to be "wired" to the Bush White House.

For example, check out this DU thread which joins Doonesbury in asking the musical question, "Has Gannon been replaced with an existing stooge?" And look at what's going to be in Frank Rich's New York Times column this Sunday. He reveals that people asking questions on the Bush SocSec tour were rehearsed the night before, and he calls Susan Molinari a "rising propagandist."

I concede that it's not much compared to losing on ANWR and the bankruptcy bills. But those stories would have been unthinkable prior Gannongate. The MSM/right wing noise machine has a couple of great big dents in it--Gannon may have done us a big favor in the long run.
