Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 07:29 PM by spanone
He thinks bush* is a BIG thinker. Says he should be given credit for what's happening in the Middle East. Bush* Jr. war was more honorable than Poppa Bush cause Poppa's war was about oil. WTF?

First it was WMD, then it was to "liberate" Iraq. What is it about? :eyes:

Oil? Religion?

12. He's always been a libertarian
What on earth made anyone think he was on our side? Maher's a libertarian, and those folks do some crazy mental gymnastics and flip-flops. He's gone right on the war, he's left on drugs and religion. He's a an unknown quantity, always has been.

19. The thing about Maher is that he'll reverse himself
Maher's stuck his foot in his mouth time and time again. What makes him entertaining is that he doesn't take himself too seriously. He'll be the first to tell you that he fucked up, and since he's on HBO, he'll probably use that exact phraseology, too. Maher makes me happy as often as he pisses me off, more or less, but he manages to get some really great guests his show. Maher's a professional smart-ass, but he has a knack for starting good conversations.

26. Perspective is important
Bill Maher, Dennis Miler, Joe Scarborough, Jon Stewart are all in the entertainment business. They may have a POV that we agree or don't agree with, but they're entertainers first and foremost.

27. The problem is, seems like when people say good things about GWB
lots of people notice and DO take it seriously.

So all the things he said against the war, etc. were just said for the sake of entertainment???

40. I had him down as a plant from day one
his 9/11 comment was obviously intended solely to kickstart a "look at me I'm a democrat and we think 9/11 was deserved image". If you pay attention to his comments since then you can see other negative image seeds he was planting.

My guess is now that the election is over Rove no longer needs him as a plant.

14. Bill Maher was never totally against Bush in the first place
the reason he got upset with Bush was because of the whole "morals and values" crap.

but he had said long before the elections that he could understand the people who want to invade iraq in hopes it will result in democracy across the middle east and that it wasn't really a bad thing.

i imagine if the Republicans had not hyped up the morals and values crap to get their base worked up and focused on military/foreign policy then Bill Maher would never have been as against Bush as he was during the campaign.

considering the things Bill Maher has said throughout the years i'm not surprised at him at all. he has often gone after people on welfare and opposes many government programs which help people in need and saying things like people deserve to be in the situation they are in.

18. Bill Maher is quite a simpleton. I'm not surprised
he is a Bush-worshipper now. He used call himself a 'libertarian' which is just a sip of kool-aid away from being a Bush worshipper these days.

His tiny brain got tired of trying to maintain the facade of being a libertarian.

31. I know. He thinks he's so smart, but he is woefully unprepared
and under-researched on his shows--he often just lets the right spew lies becasue he doesn't know what the truth is (on issues ALL OF US are well informed about)

We are so deprived of friendly media outlets that it was tempting to count on Bill as simpatico. But he never did the work of a journalist, or even a factchecker. He just shoots the shit and mocks everybody. He seems to have changed from an independent libertarian to a sold out Republican convert just in the last few weeks. That kind of abrupt change is suspicious IMO. Especially in light of similar about-face moves I observe in other media venues lately. It looks like they are "getting" to the liberal media one by one, just like they promised. Why they think it's ok to still call themselves Americans when they don't respect free speech is a mystery.

But as long as he refuses to do his homework, he's bound to be uninformed and a disappointment, no matter what flavor koolaid he's drinking this week. He should look in the mirror and ask himself how long it'll be before Dennis Miller is staring back at him.

subjects Israel to any criticisms even mild criticisms. I can think of no other topic/person/nation which is spared from his withering attacks. I've noticed that this recent admiration for Bush comes on the heels of recent developments in the Middle East that are favourable to Israel..

38. This war can and will NEVER be "justified".
It was started on a pack of lies, and is evil, corrupt, criminal and wrong.

Putting lipstick on it will not make it any less so.

Now, if the world can find a way out of this tragedy and bring about something good, it will be a blessing.

But it will be a blessing COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY WITHOUT ANY HELP OR "CREDIT" TO THAT LYING AWOL SCUMBAG WE HAVE AS "PRESIDENT" NOW.

It will be IN SPITE of him!

This bush* war will forever be criminal, illegal and UNJUSTIFIED.

It would like giving credit to Hitler for starting WWII that we now have an integrated and united peaceful Europe. It just doesn't wash.
