Why haven't any of the "healing televanglists" stepped forward ... |
|
... and attempt to heal Terri's brain?
(For us, yes, it's a rhetorical question - but perhaps a good one to ask your TBN-loving relatives over Easter dinner this evening.)

4. As I said, it's a rhetorical question to you and me ... |
|
... because we know that the snake oil they peddle. But I'm amazed that one of them didn't think enough of his "special relationship with God" to step forward and attempt it.
Some of them actually believe their own BS.

5. Right, gather together the world's top 100 faith healers, have... |
|
...Randle Terry's charity fly them all in and let them work their collective miracle on Terri Schiavo. Sounds like a winning plan to me. I'm surprised the fundies haven't lobbied Senator Frist or Tom DeLay to do this long ago.

8. Excellent Idea! Pat Robertson could handle the marketing. |

I'm surprised they haven't had a "Raising Terri" Miracle-apalooza. Get a high visibility, million people fundraiser happening. Charge $50.00 a pop (Miracles aren't cheap). Get CBN to broadcast it live. Then 100 faith healers backed by a million prayers could focus their combined energies on making Terri well....how could God possibly not answer that? On Eastar Sunday of all days. Hell, this old practicing ex-Catholic would even start attending church again.

20. It might work, even if it's a 10million to one shot... |
|
...there would be enough PR value and money in it to get 100million converts world wide. So why are these people not jumping onto this bandwagon?

9. Their jewelry is being cleaned and their limos are in the shop. |

Otherwise, they'd be there in a flash screaming in her ear and slapping her on the head. Besides that, they have to redecorate their sets with the latest in velvet and LouisIV replicas to make the suckers..er..faithful feel at home in the Trailerpark Rococco version of a whorehouse/church.

I wonder this too. If they believe in it. I do believe in healing energy and all that but nothing like they show on the show. It's not just a "touch and go my child" type of thing.

14. Yes, get her up on that stage!!! Terri come on up here!!! |
|
Frist or DeLay will now place his healing hands on her forehead, and the Lords healing power will flow through his servants hands to heal her.
Somebody should have Fox news get right on setting this up on TV. They will show the 'godless' commies the power when he places his healing hands on this woman.
Elisha never had a problem with being tested. Why should Frist, DeLay or even junior. They are 'right' with the Lord, are they not?

18. One of the things skeptics have learned |
|
Frauds never accept challenges or step forward on hopeless cases.
James Randi has been offering $1.2 million for several decades now for any example of paranormal ability. He has even taken down a few fraudulent faith healers. Notable was Peter Popoff. Even though Popoff's scam was exposed he came back. People want to believe. In such an environment how can a faker fail?
The greatest tradgedy of Randi's work is that those that take his challenge for the $1.2 mil are believers. They are not fakes. They truly believe they are special and have unique abilities. It is sad when they take Randi's challenge and find that either they have nothing or are simply mistaken about their abilities. It can be crushing. Some refuse to accept it and insist that Randi has special abilities to dampen other's abilities.
The thing is several famous individuals have been asked to take the challenge. They never agree to or when they do always find a reason to back out. Fakes that make their carreer from their claims know not to endanger the golden goose.
Consider Sylvia Browne. She has been offered the challenge numerous times and claims she would pass it without concern but simply isn't motivated to take it. One time while appearing on the Larry King show (a noted save haven for psychics and other paranormal claims) Randi was on the show. They went through their typical banter. But this time Browne accepted the challenge on public TV. It has been years now since that acceptance and Browne continues to find excuses to not take the challenge.
This is simply the modus operandi of frauds. They make all manner of claims on cases they know they can game. When a major case that tugs on heart strings they are noticably absent. Anything where they can fail spectacularly will be avoided like the plague.
