Latest Rove Wedge: Schiavo - Privacy - Disabilities Rights |
|
1) Bush brother interfere in very vague Schiavo case...(case not black & white but judges have ruled on her living will and accepted it)
2) DUers (or their likeness but really freepers) bring up the government has not right to intervene - privacy issue.
3) DUers (or their likeness but really freepers) bring up the Disabilities Communities terror at murder and how "privacy" will enable such crimes
4) Wedge between Liberals and the Disability Community (because otherwise Disabilities Community has worked in conjunction with progressives for years.. all bonds must be broken in order for Karl Rove to RULE THE WORLD)
 IMHO

1. The government has no right to intervene. It's unconstitutional, period. |
|
I'm amazed that Shiavo is an unending issue yet peak oil, Iraq war, the actions of other countries (e.g. Russia selling weapons to Syia, S Korea dumping the dollar, and truckloads more) not being given the spotlight as they should be.
In other words, why all the introspection when everything surrounding this tiny issue has greater importance and can affect hundreds of millions more lives?
Except, this time, this one person issue is being USED by a callous government to impose what is tantamount to not only fascist, but the very antithesis of the Constitution upon us all.

2. The only problem is the GOP's standard bearers (the Bushes) backed down. |
|
It's hard for the Republicans to blame the situation on Democrats when (a) everyone involved was a Republican and (b) Republican leadership could have intervened but didn't for political reasons.

3. The slippery slope, for some reason, has the handicapped activists going. |
|
Seems to me that conscious but handicapped people couldn't be threatened, and that the pubbie talking points bringing up Mengele wouldn't be considered valid. But clearly work has to be done.
