How far do your double standards go? We all have them, right?

Into the workplace? Or into the Clerk of Courts office? Or into the Courts themselves?

How many "rights" do you have that you're willing to deny (Or support the denial via a third party ;) )members of the opposite sex, persuasion, ethnicity?

Better yet are there "rights", that are something of a moot point to you, that you'd like to deny someone else (Who's being denied this throwaway "right" for you) just for shits and giggles?

Obviously not all "rights" seem equal when compared to others, like the right to not incriminate yourself in a court of law v. the "right" to buy beer, but hey, there are some that I thought we all held dear; Like the "right" to have access to prescribed medications...That seems like a no-brainer to me. There's not a lot of ambiguity there.

Is there?

1. impossible question in the abstract

because people won't admit to this. It only becomes apparent when you examine particular policy positions, it seems to me. I would have the tendency to respond that I accept no double standards, but there are likely some positions on which I'm far less consistent. Right now I can't think of any.

Then, of course, there is the pesky difference between ideology and practice.

2. It's not THAT difficult. I have an enormous advantage in my field of work.

Over Women especially. Just by the virtue of being a white male. I know this, and I'll commiserate when prompted, but the fact is I'm not quiting my job over it.

I was also a manipulative prick when dating. Never, ever, physically violent, but certainly I led people on with no intention of ever tying the knot. Oh and Porn bugs the HELL out of me for all sorts of reasons but alas I give into it.

I'm a very stealthy hypocrite at times.

Ultimately I'm a sexist who claims to be a Feminist. That's pretty ugly.

4. oh, not me

I've never done any of that. I'm sure I've had my share of transgressions though.

I suppose something like finding a wallet full of money would prove a quandry: I need the money, but it isn't mine. If the wallet had an ID I'd definitely turn it all in, but if it didn't . . . I might just keep it. That's not right. Then little things like not telling a cashier when they've undercharged me at the store.
