No matter what your "religion", you are being screwed.
Religious or not, spiritual or not,...we are all being screwed.

Who's screwing us ALL?

Doh. We know the answer to that question.

So, how come we are becoming embattled amongst ourselves rather than a gathered force against those who are "screwing" us?

The world may never know.

1. I. just. don't. know.
That we even argue about religion, when we're mostly on the same side on most big things, should tell us that we shouldn't argue about religion.

I still chalk this up to an Internet thing.

4. That's not arguing about religion in the sense we're talking about.
That's arguing about separation of church and state, which we should always argue about.

9. I don't think I understand.
If this thread is about another thread, I don't think I read that other thread. I wasn't really talking about science, other than maybe political science.

We're on the same side,...yet

Ya' gotta wonder about the "divisive ones", though. Seriously, ya' gotta wonder.

5. Religion. Philosophy. Politics. All beliefs.
Don't mind discussing and debating them all - but they are all on the same level to me really when you get to the core of it.

One could argue that the whole evolution thing promotes might makes right and the repulican theme of things, no god, no afterlife, no reason to be nice to others and get what you can in this life. And so on, and so forth. Some believe A. some Believe B.

It's all worth discussing and debating though, helps grow the mind and foster ideals.

Good thread really, but that is just me humble belief ;)

8. Talk about a bottom line summation.
A) Get what you can in this life; or
B) Contribute your best to make life better.

Of course,...life, human life isn't that simple.

The simple view of human life is,...accepting the mixture.

12. the question(s) comes back to why
Why make life better for others, for future generations, et al if you will not be here to reap the rewards?

Now me, I do want to make it better myself for others, but my reasons fall along a few lines (including beliefs I hold in a religious sense and humanistic sense). But barring anything beyond this life, why care(?) is the question. How does it benefit the person when they will be dead and gone if there is nothing past this world??

At any rate, always a good discussion and your summation was nice and on point. Thanks!

14. I just want to "live". Being a part of/contributing towards others,...
,...is the very best of my being alive.

I can't help myself.

I LOVE being a part of, contributing to, being with others' lives by my just, being a participant.

I choose how I "infect" others as they choose to "infect" me.

11. I wonder about the motives of flame throwing threads
Attention may be part of it,but they seem too simple in thier questioning sometimes. We can't loose our sence of humor or we become republiturds.

13. another important is how much we discuss and discuss
to try and understand one another. not just that we work at trying to understand those that oppose us. this is a good thing. and i agree with the posters that i dont see a lot of christian bashing.

15. I don't believe "understanding" has a role in this power-game.
Seriously.

"Understanding" was tossed out about a quarter century ago.

Think about it.
