We are in a new era of permanently high gas prices. |
|
As both India and China ratchet up their demand for petroleum, the world is going to feel the impact of this sharp rise in demand as these two mammoth countries begin to outstrip our supplies. Currently, oil prices are at close to $55 per barrel. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that price reaches $100 a barrel within the next ten years.
What that would mean is that a massive transfer of wealth will occur to petroleum producing countries. Either we have to quickly find ways to cut our gasoline consumption or be forced to pay $100 for each tankful of gas.Our whole lifestyle may have to undergo a radical shift.I hope we have a plan to minimize the hurt to a lot of people.

1. It's not the gasoline I worry about... |

I live in the northeast, and home heating oil is $2.00 a barrel also...I think this is a bigger problem for our state (lots of poor & elderly) than gas (i.e. you DO have an option for buying a car that gets good mileage...gas has been a dollar a LITER in Europe for many many years now).
