Falwell actually has a heart.

Unless, of course, a disembodied heart attacked him at Liberty University.

month--he just wouldn't listen. The kind of hatred that man carries in him chokes the soul.

As an ironic aside, he told Wolf Blitzer on this past Sunday that he wanted the whole world to know that he didn't want anyone to remove any tubes from him.

...have made health care an unaffordable luxury for 40 million of us, and yet he has inexhaustible amounts of money to repair his clogged-up "heart" (yeah right).

To hell with him. I hope the hospital bill drain his entire fortune, and then he dies anyway.

30. Power Of Positive Thinking
I saw this scumbucket on CNNServative attacking Michael Schaivo and spewing his usual barage of lies...and it made me mad that all of his bile goes out unchallenged and how damaging he's been to political dialogue in this country over the past 25 years.

While watching I hoped something similar would befall his family (this was at the same time posts about DeLay and Robert Schindler's own pasts were coming to light), and see how this fat asshat would react. Maybe some invisible cloud being heard something? The sun just started shining out my window.

I wish the man no pain, but I do wish his voice to be diminished as he's done nothing but divided and exploited.

38. I wonder is this will change his hate speech?
I detest the way he speaks hate toward everything outside of his little model world, but I've seen major shifts of attitude when someone is shocked into recognizing their own fragility.

Many things could happen here.

He could actually be in the same position as Terri! Wonder how that would be?

He will have to recognize that he may very soon meet his God. Will he recognize how that God will look at all the hatered he's spewn over the years?

Stay tuned. We may hear answers to at least some of those questions.

50. So Jerry, how did YOU piss God off?
"And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen."
-- Rev. Jerry Falwell, blaming civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, quoted from John F. Harris, "God Gave U.S. 'What We Deserve,' Falwell Says," The Washington Post (September 14, 2001)

of yourself, physically. He had to be at least 275 lbs. I don't care who you are, angel or atheist, being that overweight will damage your health. I really hope he doesn't die. Rather, I hope he learns from this experience and develops a compassion for others that he truly lacks (and by others, I mean non-"white, heterosexual, evangelical Christians").

I also have a hypothesis that people who spend their time poking their noses into other people's business the way Jerry does are adding extra stress to their systems which - combined with the obesity and "workaholic" lifestyle - may have made this inevitable.

66. Though he is clearly the opposition this is not the time to mock him
I recall when Carl Sagan passed many on the right ridiculed him and his life. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever witnessed. I will have nothing to do with any behaviour like that. I cannot say much nice about the man but I will not sink to ridiculing him when he is down.

70. Carl Sagan...
...never hated anyone. At least not publicly.

He may have gotten irritated from time to time, but he never used his position to direct seething hatred toward anyone.

Seems a bit different to me.

Just saying...

82. Don't take my position the wrong way
It has nothing to do with who he is as a person. I believe he represents a key component to the rise of the religious right. A group I believe represents the greatest threat to the world today.

I cannot find anything positive to say about the man except he was a human. Even that comes off as hollow to me when compared to the hatred he has fostered.

The Sagan comparison is presented not to compare Sagan and Falwell as equals. Only that they are humans. And when the right rejoiced in Sagan's passing it was the most sickening display of inhumanity I had witnessed in a long time. I do not wish to be part of any display of ghoulish delight in the death or harm of another. Nothing good ever comes of such a display.

92. Completely not my intent
I just have a different view of the matter than others. Whether it is better than others I have no idea. I just want to move our group forward and spread our ideas as far as possible. I suspect that a display of rejoicing the death of Falwell will not serve this purpose in any way. In fact it may create more harm than anything else.

69. "If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."
Some More Quotations from the right Rev:

The Bible is the inerrant ... word of the living God. It is absolutely infallible, without error in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as well as in areas such as geography, science, history, etc.

We're fighting against humanism, we're fighting against liberalism ... we are fighting against all the systems of Satan that are destroying our nation today ... our battle is with Satan himself.

The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews.

God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

I put all the blame legally and morally on the actions of the terrorist, secular and anti-Christian environment left us open to our Lord's not to protect. When a nation deserts God and expels God from the culture ... the result is not good.

Which condemned ALL Catholics
Which is why (having grown up Catholic and been called everything from a Pagan to a devil worshiper by various "born-agains") I cannot understand certain laypeople and clergy forming alliances with these people. Hey, they HATE you, they think you are going to HELL, they don't believe in good works-based religion.

Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.

Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead.

She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.

Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!

74. Falwell's living will says he wants to stay a veggie....
After claiming Terri's condition is just like his was a few weeks ago, he goes on to say:

"But I've already given my living will. Don't you dare pull the plug on me. I want to wake up in 14 years and say, "What day is it? What time is it?"

http://mediamatters.org/items/200503280007

He must be in the 3% who have a living will that says DON'T pull the plug when I go veggie. Too afraid to see what his vengeful God's gonna do with him I guess.

94. Because
We don't feel sympathy for a person who:

1). Who blamed 9/11 on gays, women, etc.?
2). Who helped convince the "Christians" that the war in Iraq was needed (count the bodies please)?
3). Who sold his ministry to Moon while manipulating his followers to donate?
4). Who helped launch the far right's takeover of this country (count the bodies again, include the elderly, poor, sick, etc.)?
5). Who helped create a culture of hate?

This list goes on and on...

Sorry this bothers you, my lack of sympathy that is. I am not going to generate feelings in order to please "my party" or anyone else. Feel free to pray for him. I will, however, pray for the victims he help create.

103. I would also bet he's still a a major racist
Don't believe me? Read Mel White's book. He preached incredibly vitriolic sermons against blacks, civil rights, integration, etc. long after most Virginians gave up and accepted they had to abide by civil rights laws. He was adamantly against the Loving vs. Virginia ruling, and continued to preach this kind of hate into the 70's,. He only "changed" when what he was saying was no longer socially acceptable, so then went on to women and gays, etc.

The man is hate-filled, and is the antithesis of Christ.

107. I have had Faux News on for the last 30 minutes, and they have
had that big "FOX SPECIAL NEWS REPORT" Regarding Falwell at least 6 times.

I don't watch Faux cause I like it. I do it for a contributor to Media Matters.

(for some reason I felt I needed to explain that).

Fox started using the "FOX SPECIAL NEWS REPORT" around 9/11. Their ratings went up and I guess they figure it is because of this "FOX SPECIAL NEWS REPORT."

Problem is, by doing this, it's like hollering wolf all the time.

Now, when something REALLY important happens that needs to be reported, I wonder if the Faux Fans will really pay that much attention to it?

Anyway, I pray that he meets his maker, Satan, very soon.

that he's been ruining; but I have been utterly horrified at the things he's said and done over the years.

But I would rather wish that he will recover, and that the experience of being sick, afraid and vulnerable will make him change his ways and publicly repent in a way that will influence lots and lots of Christian-rightists to change their mind.

Perhaps he will be cured by a gay non-Christian doctor, and this will help to cure him of some of his prejudices as well.
