Schiavo to Undergo Autopsy to End Debate -- Lawyer

By Jane Sutton

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (Reuters) - The husband of brain-damaged Florida woman Terri Schiavo has ordered an autopsy after she dies to silence allegations his plan to cremate her body is aimed at hiding something, his lawyer said on Monday.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/rights_schiavo_dc

Unbelievable! Now this guy feels like he has to cut up his wife's corpse just to somehow placate complete outsiders who have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS in how his wife wanted to die, in the first place???

I just have no words for how violated I would feel if this were me. I'm almost ready to think he needs to cremate her just because these wackos would otherwise try to dig up her grave. Certainly, they would take it upon themselves to commandeer her grave site and turn it into some kind of pilgrimmage site for themselves instead of a place where people who actually knew Ms. Schiavo can pay their respects.

Wow. Just...WOW.

2. Nope, I'm sure her family. Plus the man is getting death threats...
unfortunately those right to life death threat calls are painting him in a corner.

3. His brother-in-law is one who implies that Michael beat Terri.

The Schindlers aren't complete strangers. They've frequently made thinly-veiled inferences that Terri was beaten and may have been assaulted/abused, leading to her heart attack.

7. Well, I guess I looked at this quote from the story i linked to:
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 12:36 PM by Crankie Avalon
"We didn't think it was appropriate to talk about an autopsy prior to Mrs. Schiavo's death," Felos told reporters outside his law office in Dunedin, Florida.

"But because claims have been made by, I guess, opponents of carrying out her wishes that there was some motive behind the cremation of Mrs. Schiavo we felt it was necessary to make that announcement today."

I would have thought they'd have just said "the Schindlers" rather than, "I guess, opponents," if only the family was meant.

P.S. They also include Randall Terry's reaction, as if he should have any say in this.

4. PROVE the parents wrong?
Parents want it too. Also, heard her brother say they are specifically going to ask for a report of any fractures. (abuse by Michael).

5. Maybe Sean Hannity can do a "alien Autopsy" type show from the table
he is disgusting enough to actually do it with a strait face. :puke:

6. He might be anticipating the wrongful death suits from the parents
Now that they have the hang of litigating everything under the sun and calling press conferences about it, it might be hard for them to just stop cold turkey. I'll bet his lawyer suggested it.

9. I agree with the decision for an autopsy
This is the only way that Michael Shaivo will be able to avoid "wrongful death" lawsuits (or at least prevail). The Shindlers will not let this die once Terri dies. They've invested too much publicity in their ongoing talk about how "alert" Terri is, etc.

11. An autopsy will be performed just to "satisfy"...
....Florida law. Schiavo can't have her cremated without an autopsy.

13. Where'd you get that?
Seriously, I'd like a link or something. The story would almost certainly mention any point that salient. It seems unlikely it would just say the husband has ordered it to silence allegations, and that shameless kooks like Randall Terry say he is ONLY doing it to "cover his ass." They would say he's doing it to comply with the law, if that really is the law.

12. But the problem is these people don't trust science.
The people he's trying to convince by allowing an autopsy are the very same people who, when presented with 150 years of accumulated evidence, won't accept evolution. These are the very same people who, when presented with mountains of data showing that the earth is warming, and that this is at least in part due to human activity, won't accept global warming.

What makes anyone think they'll accept the results of this autopsy, no matter how conclusive?

They'll dispute the results, and then trot out their own "experts" who say that these results actually demonstrate the exact OPPOSITE of what the coroner who actually performed the autopsy says they demonstrate.

My guess as to who the first "expert" will be: "Nobel Prize nominated" (yeah, right) Dr. William Hammesfahr. (http://mediamatters.org/items/200503220009)

Bank on it.
