Falwell likened his bout with pneumonia to Schiavo's condition
In his Easter Sunday televised sermon and in a CNN appearance that same day, the Rev. Jerry Falwell compared his recent bout with viral pneumonia to Terri Schiavo's condition.

From Falwell's March 27 televised Easter sermon, broadcast from his Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia:

FALWELL: Terri, who is not on life support, has never been on life support, she had a feeding tube in. A month ago, I had a feeding tube and I was on a ventilator, but I was not in a persistent vegetative state -- many people go through that. And Terri, Terri was not -- is not unconscious. She is aware, she's limited, she's unable to say and do as once she did, but she has a mother and father who love her.

From the March 27 broadcast of CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer:

FALWELL: She has never been on life support. A month ago, I was on a ventilator to breathe, and I had a feeding tube down my nose, just like she. And thank the Lord, I'm out of it, and I preached two times this morning in my Easter services.

But I've already given my living will. Don't you dare pull the plug on me. I want to wake up in 14 years and say, "What day is it? What time is it?"

But I really think that the courts have been wrong --

BLITZER: But Reverend Falwell, you can't compare, you can't compare, Reverend Falwell, the condition that you've been in -- and thank God you're OK right now -- to her condition. It's been years since she's been able to utter a word or anything along those lines. And all of the doctors, apparently, who have testified before various courts have suggested she's not going to improve.

2. That suggests Falwell has a functioning brain.
And I've seen no proof of that.

4. Another example
This guy has no clue what other people go through. He has no empathy and no compassion and is a MOST despicable character. No wonder people get turned off to religion. Christians, you gotta get rid of hypocritical sleezebags like this guy, don't let him speak for you!

6. Yep
And isn't the feeding tube a mean of life support? If it wasn't for the feeding tube Schavio would've been dead. :eyes:

7. Falwell and Schiavo do have a similar condition - massive brain death
although Schiavo obviously has more functioning grey matter than Falwell.

If Falwell is ever in Schiavo's position, I hope that he does not have a living will and that the care of his vegetative body completely exhausts all of the financial resources of his ministries.

I would love to see "Liberty Baptist University" have to be sold and converted into a movie studio or a strip mall or a landfill or something that could be a benefit for our society. I would love to see the Moral Majority go bankrupt, but be unable to recover because of the bankruptcy reform that recently passed. I would love to see the Heritage Foundation have an "everything must go" sale, to try to raise money to keep Falwell's shell alive for a few more days.

After all of his organizations are completely drained and rendered completely powerless and dissolved, I would feel like something good had been accomplished and could then be at peace with his passing.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints" -Psalm 116:15.

9. Liberty U. is bought and paid for by the Moonies
http://www.consortiumnews.com/archive/moon3.html

Reber and Thomas earned Falwell's public gratitude by excusing the Lynchburg, Va., school of about one-half of its $73 million debt. In the late 1980s, that flood of red ink had forced Falwell to abandon his Moral Majority political organization and nearly drowned Liberty University in bankruptcy.

Reber and Thomas came to Falwell's rescue in the nick of time. Their non-profit Christian Heritage Foundation of Forest, Va., snapped up a big chunk of Liberty's debt for $2.5 million, a fraction of its face value. Thousands of small religious investors who had bought church construction bonds through a Texas company were the big losers. But Falwell shed no tears. He told local reporters that the moment was "the greatest single day of financial advantage" in the school's history.

Left unmentioned in the happy sermon was the identity of the bigger guardian angel who had been protecting Falwell's financial interests -- from a distance and without publicity. That secret benefactor was the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the self-proclaimed South Korean messiah who is controversial with many fundamentalist Christians because of his bizarre Biblical interpretations and his brainwashing tactics that have torn thousands of young people from their families. Moon also has grown harshly anti-American in recent years.

Covertly, Moon helped bail out Liberty University through one of his front groups which funnelled $3.5 million to the Reber-Thomas Christian Heritage Foundation, the non-profit that had purchased the school's debt.

"I see a bad Moon rising"...

8. "What day is it? What time is it?"
(machines beeping in background) (fidgets nervously) It's Wednesday. January 20, 2021.

"What's going on on that fancy TV?"

It's Inauguration Day. For the new President.

"Really? Who's President?"

Uh, (fidgets nervously again) Barack Obama. From Illinois.

"B-B-Bbbbbbb-Bbbb-Bbbb...Aaaaaaaauuuuuggggggghh!"

(beeping of machines slides down to one steady tone)

We're losing him, Doctor!

11. This disgusting circus almost makes me wish Terri Schiavo
WOULD miraculously "wake up". I don't know her, her parents, brothers, sisters, her husband, or anyone else related to her. I can only imagine what she would think/feel/say if she "woke up". But, somehow, given what the courts have found to be credible evidence of HER wish to not continue "life" in the condition she is...I think she'd be pissed as hell at her parents and family for the whole thing. Including putting her up on display for the whole country.

From what I understand, they've testified THEY DON'T CARE about her and her wishes as an adult; they only care about what THEY WANT. They have dragged the name and character of the man she loved through the mud. They have fought at every turn to take and keep control of her, as if she were once again their minor child.

I have sympathy for the parents in the death of their child. But the child she once was left them when she became and adult. She was lost to them long ago.

Shamefully, the parents' clinging to hope have put them in a pure state of denial and delusion. Jerry Falwell's jumped on the bandwagon because his money grubbing hands see a profit.
