Bill Clinton To Speak at SLA Annual Conference
-- 3/28/2005
BreakingNews > News

Former President Bill Clinton has agreed to be the general session speaker at the SLA Annual Conference in Toronto on Wednesday, June 8. SLA spokesperson John Crosby told LJ that the organization will have input into the nature of his speech. So far, Clinton is said to be considering the importance of information literacy or tying in knowledge and information with his recent humanitarian efforts (AIDS, tsunami relief) as potential topics. Security measures will be stricter than at previous conferences. All SLA members registered for the conference will receive a voucher, to be redeemed for a ticket the day before Clinton's speech. The auditorium has the capacity for 3000 and the press may be limited to a pool. No video or photography will be allowed. Crosby said that Clinton’s fee will not be disclosed, as per the contract.
