Poll question: Punishment for Disruptive Hospice Protestors |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 04:31 PM by Modem Butterfly
So what is an appropriate punishment for the self-absorbed, self-righteous assholes who are disrupting the peace of the patients, family and staff of Terri Schiavo's hospice in Florida?

2. I just want them to stop hurting other people |
|
and if that means a rump full of antipsychotics, so be it. If that means locking them up, so be it.
Just keep them away from that hospice. Thank you.

4. okay, here's the thing: everyone has a right to dissent in America |
|
They have the right to protest, just like anti-war demonstrators have the right to protest.
If they're protesting peaceably, they should be allowed to protest.

10. They're disrupting the residents and their families |
|
At least one woman missed the end of her loved one's life because of these people. And the nearby school had to be closed for the duration. Protest away, but please be a little considerate of the innocent bystanders.

11. I do not disagree with their right to protest. |
|
What I find disgusting is them disrupting the other residents, their families and maybe even the employees of the hospice.
Send 'em to Iraq.

13. They want to demonstrate, fine |
|
Let them do so in Washington or their state capital. Or in Times Square. But not at a hospice where dozens of other families, besides Terri Schiavo's little fucked up clan, are undergoing the most painful and difficult transitions of their lives.

I watched the local news in Miami for a week, and during that time, Animal Control fished 2 gators out of neighborhood sewers.
Yuck!

6. Forced to provide hospice care for someone who isn't as... |
|
... attractive, or popular, or iconified by the media, or seemingly healthy despite a persistent vegetative state.
Assign them to spend just 48 hours caring for the forgotton, the poor, the miserable, and the lowly
Those who don't have someone like Michael Schiavo to fight for care. Those who have bed sores all over their body. Those who smell like feces and urine.
Those who are awake, responsive, and very free to complain. Those who are conscious and depressed and in a very different emotional place than the care-provider.
Assign the high-n-mighty protesters just 48 hours of duty in that environment.
If they can keep their beliefs unchanged after that, they can keep them for life and I won't whine anymore about it.

9. What about some community service for the poor and vulnerable ... |
|
maybe they will realize that really helping others, and really coming face to face with those in need, is better than standing on the street screaming (but it won't get them as much attention ...)

Put them in a wooden outhouse. Use an electrical conduit staple over their scrotum. Hand them a rusty pocket knife and set the outhouse on fire.
