Perfect example: Police Shock Man Attempting To Bring Schiavo Water
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 05:00 PM by Mugsy
This is the most perfect example I've seen of what is wrong in the debate over Terri Schiavo:

"Police Shock Man Attempting To Bring Schiavo Water"
http://www.local6.com/news/4327141/detail.html

SHE CAN'T SWALLOW YOU IDIOT!

What's he gonna do, pour it down the hole her feeding tube was in?

The people trying to "save" the long dead Ms. Schiavo seem to be under the false impression that she is simply "brain damaged" rather than brain dead.

If she were on a heart/lung machine, it would be a much more clear cut case. But when the autonomous "heart/lung machine" in this case is the remains of her own cerebellum, unaware that the rest of her is gone, they equate that with "functional and possibly rehabilitatible".

This is just too stupid.

3. "Technically"?
Hmm, I suppose technically you need a brain to be brain dead. Her cerebral cortex liquified years ago.

9. No...you can Google this. She is not "brain dead." Wrong term.
She is in a persistent vegitative state. Her brain is not "dead." A person whose brain is dead is, in fact, considered a dead person by the medical community.

She is, technically, brain damaged. She IS in a PVS. She IS on life support (feeding tube). But she's not brain dead. Them's just the fax.

2. so HOW many people
have tried to bring this woman water now?
Also, I DID see a sign outside the hospice that said soemthign to the effect of "blah blah blah, SHE CAN SWALLOW" or something... so according to them, she CAN swallow, they're just not giving her anything TO swallow cuz they're starvin' her to death....

...stupidity, I tell ya

5. Speaking from experience here...
if someone can swallow, they generally don't put a feeding tube in you. There isn't a reason for it.

I with the cop did more than shock that idiot.

6. look at the bright side
some Women's Clinic in FL has been spared the picketers for a few days while the whack jobs hover around the Hospice instead of bothering women going to get birth control, pap smears, prenatal exams and abortions...

7. Is "pro life" only "pre life" and "post death"?
It's insane. Once you are abulatory, they couldn't give a rats a$$ about you. Cut childwelfare services, increase use of the death penalty, and start wars under false pretences that kill thousands.

"Pro-LIFE" indeed! :(
