The Right Of Self Determination Is NOT Their Issue
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 10:20 PM by ruggerson
is OUR issue. It is not THEIR issue. You can listen to the talking heads yammer endlessly about how the Republican "base" has been all fired up by the Schiavo affair and how it will ignite their "campaign" against the judiciary.

Or you can listen to reality.

The public is OVERWHELMINGLY on our side. This is a classic issue which cuts to our benefit: the right of the individual and the family to make personal medical decisions vs. the right of the government to do it for them.

We fall on the side of freedom, liberty and privacy.
The Republicans fall on the side of totalitarianism and big nanny government.

If this issue is framed properly, we win big. The country wins big. And the Republicans are split down the middle.

This is OUR issue. Not theirs. Not remotely theirs.

1. Here here !!!!

And hats off to the local Police Dept. down there in Florida at the Hospice who turned away Jeb Bush's State Militia when they were on there way to snag Terri Schivo, the other night. Not without the Judge they said.... geesh .... defending our Constitutional Rights. Scary shit.

2. totalitarianism and big bully government
This issue cuts too close to home. I think they're making mega-huge mistake here. But it's going to be a battle to keep the people paying attention to stop them.

3. Seriously. They want to steal our freedom of self-determination.
The vast majority of people DO get that, the actions by the right-wing was a viscious imposition upon our personal freedom and privacy.
