Of course, in Terri Schiavo's case, the family decision was not unanimous. Her parents insisted she was not as far gone as doctors said. Yet what they saw in her face was meticulously explained by medical experts as reflexive, not reactive. Her parents didn't want to let go.
But when the facts were reviewed in court, they lost. Time and again.

It may be hard for them to accept that her death Thursday also brings sorrow to her husband and those who supported his efforts to let her die.
