3. I got the impression that they became addicted.......
the rush of being able to persuade thousands of religious zealots with a few words.

Also, they love whorin' before the cameras!

4. They're nuts
These people could be the poster picture family for American Dysfunctional Families.

Sure this was a tough situation they were handed but that is part of life. Sometimes it just deals you a crappy hand. Having been through the death process on more than a couple of occasions I fully understand how trying it is. But at some point adults accept the realities for what they are, do what has to be done, and move on.

5. Control issues in a longstanding dysfunctional family dynamic
Pathology existed in the Schindler family before Michael Shiavo ever met Terri. Remember, she became a bulimic BEFORE she met him which is often seen in young women who feel they can control only one thing in their lives...food. Sad, but ironic, how the end of her life revolved around food.

15. Was she really... before marriage?
Why did it continue afterwards if michael was an escape mechanism?
was he also controlling?
There's a pattern usually...

17. People often seek unconsciously to duplicate what they know...
From a controlling family dynamic to (possibly) a controlling husband.

7. I don't know anything about them really
Only the distorted vision that you get of anyone through the media. It's impossible to tell their motivations, their feelings, what's real and what's exagerrated and embellished for the cameras. It's like the old Don Henley song - Dirty Laundry. Who really knows the truth about anyone you see plastered in the media? Not me. Only if I knew them personally. So I'm not going to demonize them - I think they were wrong to drag this out for so long but I have no idea what they may be really like, just as people.

8. Didn't you hear the Pope is about to die?
Seriously, we don't know much at all about her parents. People are making all kinds of judgements based on politics. I feel sorry for them and that is all I know about them for real.

10. The question I have about them
is we know that Michael and Terri moved to Florida, I think I read for her job. But why did the parents then move down there just a few months later? I just think that's kind of weird.

11. That is weird...
how much of their move was the job and how much was "mike my parents are freaks, how about if I put in for a transfer.... maybe somewhere warm"?

18. Yeah, I thought it was weird too.
I was just thinking about my family. I get along well with my parents, but if I was married and needed to move to say, Idaho (from Texas), they're not going to follow me up there.

And then the parents and brother lived in the same apartment complex. Sorry, I like a little separation from my parents, hey, you want to move to Florida too, well at least live down the street, not in the same complex.

12. My impression from this article ...
http://www.tampatrib.com/MGB9G5MVZ6E.html

<snip>
She was overweight all through school and was not athletic, her father said. ``She wouldn't go to summer camp, but she wanted to go to dancing school and learn ballet,'' he said.

``I had to go to this recital, and Terri was anything but graceful,'' he said. ``I laughed so hard.''
<snip>

Things like this likely triggered her obsession with weight loss ... and we all know what that led to. I can't help but think that her family is feeling a fair amount of guilt.

20. That is a horrible, terrible thing for a father to do
to his daughter. No wonder she was bulimic.
