I believe that a man like Karol Wojtyla would have been admired |

even if there wer no religious labels attached to his name.He was a humanitarian in the true sense of the word. His religion gave him a pulpit from which he could inspire others. I believe that he would have been just as effective even without the title.
I want to remember him for the great humanitarian that he was standing up for the weak, the poor and becoming a thorn on the side of the haters and warmongers.

The world has lost a great man with a kind heart.. we need more like him and less like bush and the fundies who have nothing but intolerance and frankly, hatred in their hearts.

JP2 wanted to do right, but he never saw the oppression of the poor in 3rd world as horrid as the oppression of the 'communists' upon eastern europe...the church is not a big deal today, in part because JP2 would not face squarely the demons that are running amok today, unfettered greed, nudge/wink racism, glorified militarism, economic disparity, global warming (the result of power generation; itself setup to benefit the few over the many) and the unleashing of the big lie as public policy by western governments...the pope accomadated the liars so much he remained quiet after 911 and the illegal war on the iraqi people....
