Upon the reading of President Clinton's statement on the Pope
you make me proud of my voting for you. My regret is I didn't do enough to stop the bashing of you while President. Your only mistake was allowing a special prosecutor to investigate the land deal, look where it went but of course you couldn't have known where it would lead. You had faith in us and you showed us. We love you

1. At some point he should have fired Ken Starr
Just fired him, no questions asked, and shut down his office and sealed it off with police tape.

3. Dunno if that would have worked
Wasn't the moment when Nixon's fate was sealed when he fired the Independent Counsel? I could be wrong, it's been a while since I studied Watergate.

5. As much as I still like President Clinton, he
should have considered our future and his legacy before messing with the help.

13. That's right, blame President Clinton for the right wing's visciousness.
Remember, at the same time they were accusing President Clinton of adultery and calling for his impeachment, these hypocritical Repukes were doing exactly the same thing:

Bob Barr
Dan Burton
Newt Gingrich (who tried to cut his wife off of his medical insurance while she was in the hospital for cancer treatment)
Henry Hyde
Bob Livingston
Helen Chenoweth

The difference, of course, is that President Clinton wasn't calling for the resignation of the Repukes.

15. Hey, I really like him. But face it, he turned so many
people off with his actions, even though it was nobody's business but his. If he had been able to run again, I'd have been right there with you voting for him. He was a brilliant president, especially compared to what we now have, but he flat out got caught.

16. That he was, that he did
and I have no problem with it. No one could have stood up to the scrutiny he was subject to. Remember he was able to accomplish so much without the repukes help and that makes him a great President.

without mangling the English language.

9. I think you speak for the majority of us
At that point in time I never ever thought it would be this bad.
If Bush got caught with an intern and lied about it, you can bet your ass before sunset his cabal would have a law on the books saying it was okay.
I wish I had fought for Gore--never realized by not fighting that our country would be in jeopardy.:(

All I had found was incomplete....I appreciate it. :)

....
Former US president Bill Clinton hailed the pontiff's role in the downfall of communism.

"In speaking powerfully and eloquently for mercy and reconciliation to people divided by old hatreds and persecuted by abuse of power, the Holy Father was a beacon of light not just for Catholics, but for all people," Clinton and his wife Senator Hillary Clinton said in a statement.

Similarly, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said she will cherish the times she met with John Paul when she was first lady

Clinton said in a statement: -- quote -- "Whether fighting intolerance and oppression, or publicly bearing the suffering of illness and age, John Paul II stood always with spiritual firmness and grace."

In a statement released shortly after the announcement of the pope's death, Clinton and his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton said: "In speaking powerfully and eloquently for mercy and reconciliation to people divided by old hatreds and persecuted by abuse of power, the Holy Father was a beacon of light not just for Catholics, but for all people."

EDIT:
Your link is MUCH better....
http://www.clintonfoundation.org/040205-nr-cf-st-on-the-passing-of-pope-john-paul.htm
"Hillary and I are deeply saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope John Paul II. In speaking powerfully and eloquently for mercy and reconciliation to people divided by old hatreds and persecuted by abuse of power, the Holy Father was a beacon of light not just for Catholics, but for all people. In more than 170 visits to over 115 countries, from the Balkans to the Middle East, from Central Africa to Asia, he was tireless in his efforts to defend human rights and human dignity. His remarkable journey from Wadowice, Poland to the Vatican played an important role in hastening the downfall of Communism. I will always treasure our five meetings in the U.S and the Vatican, especially the deep concern His Holiness expressed over the suffering of the Bosnians and of religious liberty throughout the world."

His Holiness is now at home with God, whom he served so faithfully for a lifetime."

17. Also notice that he had it ready immediately. It was the first 'official'
condolence read, I think. They probably had to have * rehearse his 12 times. And finding those monosyllabic words can be a challenge!
Gerald Ford had a statement out before he did as well.
