George W. Bush Is "America's" Fault! We Freaking Deserve Him!
Edited on Sun Apr-03-05 12:03 PM by DistressedAmerican

RANT ALERT LEVEL RED!

I see tons of posts blaming various factors for Bush's continued hold on power. Some of the favorites are the main stream media, election fraud, Florida voters, Ohio voters, the Supreme Court, Corporations, Neocons, The Cristian Right, weak Democratic opposition, aliens, etc. This list goes on and on...

I am here to tell you that YOU ARE ALL RIGHT (Yes, even the alien folks).

I hate the threads that have augments that sound like this:

Poster A: "I blame the stupidity of the American people for Bush."

Poster B: "No the media has them brainwashed."

Poster C: "Not entirely true. WE voted him out. Bush just stole the election."

Etc., etc., etc.

These are not competing propositions people. They are mutually reinforcing factors in the overall picture. Every one of these things works against us making this country a better place in which to live. The sooner we grasp a more holistic view of the problem, the better off we will all be.

From now on can we agree on one word that sums up all of these factors "AMERICA"?

"America" the chunk of land is a beautiful place. However, "America" the civilization it is so seriously flawed that I seriously wonder how much longer we can exist like this.

"America" the civilization is so filled with greed, corruption, religious intolerance, sloth and apathy that continuing to debate which of these is the prime cause for this misery is pointless!

We have George W. Bush and his corrupt regime for another 4 years because WE ARE AMERICA (with everything that entails)!

The main stream media does not make America what it is on its own. Neither do crypto-fascist neocons, right wing bible bangers, or appeasement wing Democrats. It takes the media, the bible bangers, the neocons, the apathetic, AND the stupid (Along of course with the brain of a criminal) together to create a monster This Large and rampaging!

4. Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed by God's wrath for the SAME reasons.
(greed and selfishness, homosexuality had NOTHING to do with it and it's been documented. Only right-wing PERVERTS decided to molest the story and change it to scapegoat homosexuals.)

14. My Argument was That Bush Is Proof Of God's Non-Existence!
Or maybe he is just being an ineffectual looser like so many of OUR leaders.

16. God is not dead he's merely unemployed
Look I worked like a dog for Kerry to be reelected and I donated in a major way for my income level, I ate hot dogs for lunch every day and sent the surplus to the Dems, so don't tell me I deserve GWB or
that God is dead, a loser, etc. God did not create the Neocon movement, we Americans have always been naive in our expectations for the presidency and GWB took advantage of that. Also, this was a dirty no holds barred campaign, certain individuals saw no paper trail as a free trip to the White House which is exactly what they put into place. So we've had our lumps, we've learned that there are going to have be controls for electronic voting, we are going to have to be careful who we place in supervisory positions in the BOEs, we have never had such a assemblage of ruthless opponents before, they truly are a monopoly.

17. So We Should Not Be Held Responsible For Being Naive?
Sorry, I didn't mean to push your god button.

You seem to completely miss the point of this thread. Start at the top. You'll see I'm not blaming YOU. It has nothing to do with assigning blame at all. Please read it again.

As to any God that lets things go on as they are, not my idea of worship material. Give me a God with the power AND desire to rid the country of these bastards.

18. We elected GWB, it's our job to deal with him
Americans have always wanted their president to be a father figure,
now George has smashed the pedestal to pieces, we as Americans should take our electoral process seriously, which we do not, we based our decisions on whether we would want to have a beer with this man, I did not base my decision on that, but there are voters who voted for GWB because he is a good old boy. It's important that in a nation this powerful that we as adults pick the candidate on a realistic assessment of his experience and character. Also the whole non-realty based style of government is so ludicrous that it's embarassing that a nation of our age and size could implement it.

19. Again You Are Right.
The Electorate is one of the problems. But it is much bigger than that. It is the sum total of our culture.

20. Thanks, my pet theory...
I believe that Tv has made us lazy thinkers. Everything goes according to formula, the attractive well dressed people are the good guys, the ugly toads are the bad guys who will get their just desserts in the end always (which is not an automatic given in reality). I think Americans need to communicate more like we do on the blog, they get too trapped into their 9-5 world, their peers, their neighborhood, their social contacts, they have no idea of other cultures, or other perspectives. I don't think that George Walker Bush could have come to power in the 40's or the 50's, if we want a candidate with the integrity of an FDR, we have to set the bar that high and fight like hell for him. We have to ask questions and when the answers are not given we have to send letter after letter to every newspaper to ask why was this not answered. I think that adversity will sharpen our perspective.

We need to understand that yes, it is the television numbed public. But, it is all of these factors combined that are making this country spiral toward disaster! A media numb public wouldn't get the job done alone.

(Note: Just amplifying on my original point not taking issue with your post per se:toast: . I very much agree with your point! What particularly gets my panties in a bunch is when the major news outlets treat someone being voted off American Idol as news! Clearly this is a large PART of the problem.)

27. Bushco is but the culmination of all that has come before
What we are experiencing now is the consequence of empire-building--an enterprise pursued by liberal and rightist alike. Few here would be willing to admit it, but Cold War liberals like Truman and Acheson were as culpable in the forging of our dreaded national security state as, say, Eisenhower and Dulles. The radical left (Henry A. Wallace, for example) and the Old Right (Senator Robert Taft) saw these maniacs coming, for the seeds of totalitarianism had already been planted in their time.
