Does the public really want to hear about Pope/Schaivo? |
|
Or is this just lazy journalism? Am I so out of touch with mains ream America that I can't find relevance of these events? Does the MSM conduct polls that indicate Americans enjoy overdosing on this crap? Just a couple of questions that have an ol' fart baffled.

death watches can one take in a two week period? Very hard to avoid on televsion when they report both Schiavo and Pope 24/7. I'm struggling with my own health issues and all of this couldn't have come at a worse time. Why so much?

5. Has the public been given much of a choice? |
|
The only thing on opposite all the media pandering to the right wing take on both these stories has been infomercials and reruns of shows that weren't very good the first time around.
Even PBS has been doing popeathons.
I've been reading and enjoying my music collection.

6. It seems that this really began a few months ago |
|
With M Jackson in his pajamas. Then Martha getting out of jail.
50 minutes on the hour coverage of ONE story. Interviews of people only remotely involved.
Cable news blows even more than it used to

7. It just so happens the Pope was one of the most influencial world leaders. |

When that sort of person dies, it's a story.

10. It is a very important story |
|
And deserves a lot of coverage. But it isn't the ONLY story. There are other things going on in the world. MSM coverage of the Pope, Schiavo, Jackson, etc., just gets way out of control. All I ask for is some balance, don't let one story take up 90% of the news.

8. Schiavo was a non-story... |
|
...tragedy of one American family / right wing politicos join forces with nut cases (nothing new here).
It is irrelevant whether one loves/hates the pope... He was the spiritual leader of 1 billion people (~1/6 of the worlds population), in this country he led approximately 1/4 of the population of the U.S.
I wasn't thrilled with the deification of Reagan after his death----but it was news worthy.
I exercised my options and turned it off.
