Were the "soldier" causaulites at Abu Ghraib actually "Airmen" |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-03-05 01:28 PM by TrueAmerican
My understanding is the Air Force Security Police took over Abu Ghraib from the US Army MPs. Anyone?
I'm looking for informatin on this and the news has been almost non-existant.
If they are Air Force cops, that hits close to home for me.

either one - aren't they still considered "soldiers"? I've heard that U.S.A.F. security troops are called "the Infantry of the Air Force" anyway.

9. That could be a reason why that they are slow on releasing the information |
|
People have come to expect the Army and Marines to take on causalties. The same isn't true with the Air Force and Navy.

10. Airmen will be used as cannon fodder |
|
My son has been in the air force for over 10 years. He was over there, at a AF base during the 'shock and awe' kill fest. He works in supply. A few years ago he started doing supply for the SP's. SP's are air force police. HE IS NOT A COP. A few months ago he went for training in Texas to learn things that had nothing to do with his job that he signed up to do. It seems that they are going to be using air force personnel in the front lines. He will be leaving to put this training to use in September. He believes he'll be in Iraq with supply convoys. If I'd have known that this was going to happen he'd have joined the fucking air force over my dead body. He's a good kind kid, loves animals. He voted for Kerry. What the hell did I let him do? Words can't describe how I feel. I'm trying to reach him to ask him if he knows about the attack on the prison, and who was killed or injured.

4. Some may call them the infrantry of the Air Force? |
|
But in know why it is the same as the Army infratry. A far cry. The correct way to identify Air Force personnel is "Airman" or "Airmen"

I'm just a dumb civilian, lol. I guess I'm guilty of lumping the Army and Air Force together. Their uniforms never looked that different to me, other than one was blue, the other green. No disrespect intended to either branch.

You'll be suprise, even some in the Army make the mistake and address Air Force personnel as "soldiers"
That is a generic term and in a broad sense it applies to all military. But Airman, Marine, Soldier, and Sailor is unique and the correct address.

8. According to the DoD press release -- they used the term |
|
servicemen -- which would imply other than soldiers -- the final press release has not been issued with the higher numbers
