Pope John Paul II and President Reagan were actually Super Hero partners?
It's true and they teamed up to put the big hurt on commies. I know because the media says it is so.

This is before Ronnie became a member of the "Ex-Presidents" superheros as portrayed on SNL.

1. I too have not this recent attempt at revisionist history
Yesterday I heard them talking about the Pope being the Glorious Communicator. Just like Reagan was supposedly the Great Communicator.

Also they are trying to tie him to the fall of Communism, just as they do Reagan.

And apparently they were both one time actors.

Strange that I have never heard of all of these parallels until the last few days.

2. Well, the Pope had a lot more to do with the fall of Soviet-style
communism than Ronnie Raygun because of his committment to workers' rights; however, there were a slew of other ingredients in the mix that added up to its eventual fall and can't be pegged on any one person.

3. JP2 was an anticommunist by experience, RWR out of expedience.

I respect the authentic type, while I deplore the latter.

7. Oh, the absurdity!
I hope Nancy pointed out how JPII and Reagan both did so much to fight the AIDS crisis.

I won't hold my breath though.

Is it all just theatre now?
