Is CNN now the Church News Network? |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-04-05 08:10 PM by jayctravis
For freak's sake! Over my lunch at work today the anchors had on a priest who was there apparently co-anchoring with them the entire day as consultant, and they were just *quivering* about how Bush was the ONLY President in history to attend the funeral of a Pope.
I mean, yeah...it happens a lot, and all these libruls decline to attend cause they're heathens.
Thank goodness the Pope doesn't die more often, or freaking NOTHING would get reported or accomplished in this country!
The media has been hijacked. So long as we have 24-hour Papal-Corpse Cam the administration can do whatever they want while the nation's attention is averted. The White House press room...which has been the subject of unwanted scrutiny now needs to be "renovated" which provides them even more privacy while they shred the Constitution into confetti.
I'm wondering if CNN is enjoying not having to report anything else. They can just put three hairsprayed people up there and keep cutting to each other asking how the Pope will be remembered. Do they think that we *enjoy* nonstop marathon news coverage of events?
And this brings up another issue I was wondering about. Has any administration been involved in so much mourning before? 9/11, Schiavo, Pope, Iraqi war crimes...CAN WE GET SOME FUCKING COVERAGE OF ***OUR*** SOLDIERS' FUNERALS????????

2. I don't understand why there are no editors at CNN -- |
|
-- to ride herd on these "reporters" and the pro-Bush direction topics often take. And lately, there's been a boatload of religious coverage -- way over the quota for a news network, I'd say.

7. Have to agree. It makes me homesick for a Kerry-Edwards -- |

-- win last November by a landslide. That would have stemmed the tide of fundie pressure considerably.
One more reason not to support the initiatives of the current White House resident.

5. The Iron Rules of Cable News |
|
You have to show some pictures and have people bloviate, and no money can be spent in production.
The pope's funeral and such allows both.
T. Schiavo's death watch, and OJ Simpson trial, and every other thing you wished would just go away is the same. Every Bush speech, every Bush production, is the same.
It isn't because they are important. It is because they are there if they just turn on the camera.

6. This is very, very poor taste but when the Pope was carried off |
|
by his pall bearers I got a flash of a Santa Claus cake on a platter. Isn't this too much? There are at least nine days to the mourning period and then the conclave. This could go on FOREVER!

8. It would be interesting to know |

What on Earth could Carter have been busy with when Paul VI died? I mean, the invitations to Sadat and Begin for the Camp David summit had already been accepted the day before, so it's not like he had anything else to do?
