Why is a car pursuit getting national news coverage? |
|
I can understand local news with national updates , but this is getting non-stop coverage on Headline News.
Secondly, why do these always happen in LA?
Thirdly, why am I watching this?

7. When i lived in Houston if there was a car chase going on |
|
the local anchors covering it would need to change their panties after the nail strips got thrown down on the highway and they got a shot of the perp running it over and blowing out the tires on the car.

11. Well, unlike a car chase, the pope doesn't move, he just lies there. |
|
Doesn't make for good news.

Just kidding. Some answers. I once watched a car chase on the freeway when I lived in LA. It was like something out of "Apocalypse Now". I counted twelve helicopters between news and police pursuing the suspect not to mention another dozen patrol cars on the freeway. All the local news channels had nothing else on, which is why I went out to watch because I knew they were headed for my neighborhood. The reason they always happen in LA is because they have all those resources like TV cameras in helicopters. How many communities have that?
Why do we watch? I DUNNO.
Looks like he ended up on the beach at a restaurant that looks familiar to me. I didn't have the sound on though. What happened?

14. Car chases are exciting. |

Especially when the director cuts in the footage of the side-mounted cameras. Those shots make the weaving action of the cars through traffic seem even more phrenetic. And when the cars go up onto the sidewalk, scattering pedestrians, there is a certain comic element added! Not to mention when the chase ends up making its way through a shopping mall, like in the Blues Brothers! Hilarious stuff! I especially like the part where the cop car turns upside-down, and the poor hapless cops are strapped into their seats, spinning helplessly while Jake and Elwood get clean away! And that's not even to mention the circular, dirt spittin' dynamic of a good-ole Duke Boys car chase! Man, when that dirt starts flying and the...
Wait, did you say Headline News? Right, I'm sure there's an important and newsworthy aspect to the coverage that you must be overlooking here.

I was flipping through the channels looking for baseball, saw the chase, shook my head and went on. Which is probablly what most people would have done also.
