Has Rove Turned on Delay?
I've long believed that Karl Rove has Matt Drudge on speed dial, and frequently plants stories with Drudge to further the Republican agenda.

So when I see the fact that Drudge is now fronting the Delay story, it leads me to believe that Rove has turned on Delay, and is ready to cut him loose. I think Rove has indicated to Drudge and others that Delay is now a liability and he should be taken down sooner rather than later.

Am I right? What do you think?

8. You got that right
AS long as HE is the focus, and not chimpy and his sick agenda, all is well with them. Also, Delay is a highhanded sonofabitch, and they can deliver him some comeuppance simply by refusing to help him.

And then, when nature takes its course, they can claim that they "allowed" the "system" to "work." In actual fact, Bugboy is great at enforcing party discipline, but he feels he deserves to have HIS issues considered--and acted upon--in the highest halls of power, often without regard to the lockstep GOP agenda.

He's gotten too big for his britches, and it is time for him to be sacrificed on the altar of GOP powerlust. So much for loyalty, BugBoy!

6. Obviously, the dark of the night Shiavo bill was Delay's brainchild
and now Rove is making sure he pays the piper.

12. I think you might be right
That Schiavo fiasco backfired big time for the Republicans. Rove recognized, and is still smarting from the self-inflicted wounds.

A 3rd DeLay Travel Controversy
1997 Russia Visit Reportedly Backed by Business Interests

By R. Jeffrey Smith and James V. Grimaldi
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, April 6, 2005; Page A01

A six-day trip to Moscow in 1997 by then-House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) was underwritten by business interests lobbying in support of the Russian government, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the trip arrangements.

DeLay reported that the trip was sponsored by a Washington-based nonprofit organization. But interviews with those involved in planning DeLay's trip say the expenses were covered by a mysterious company registered in the Bahamas that also paid for an intensive $440,000 lobbying campaign.

This story also links him to Jack Abramoff, who is under federal probe over influence peddling and misrepresentation of Indian tribes.

It is unclear precisely how the money was transferred from the Bahamian-registered company to the nonprofit.

The expense-paid trip by DeLay and three of his staff members cost $57,238, according to records filed by his office. During his six days in Moscow, he played golf, met with Russian church leaders and talked to Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, a friend of Russian oil and gas executives associated with the lobbying effort.

10. A couple days ago some Republican Congressman was on
Ed Schultz talking about how Tom Delay is such a good guy cause he was sacrificing himself for the good of the cause. It was a REALLY creepy interview, the guy praised Delay for like ten minutes saying things like "You dont know the circumstances he is a hero he only took illegal money because he was proving that the system is flawed because it is easy to get illegal money..." Seriously insane.
